Buying a 997
Buying a 997
Hello
I am looking at buying a 997 cab turbo... any advise? I read that 997's started in late 2004. If I buy a 2005 Cab Turbo, how will the vin show its a 997. I researched Vin decoders and this 2005 car I am looking at seems to suggest its a 996. I confused and no expert... trying to learn. Any help appreciated!

The 997 Turbo was not released until model year 2007. The 996 turbo was offered through 2005 so was the C4S. In 2006 there was no turbo offered. The confusing part is the 997 was first released in model year 2005 just not the wide body cars. So if you are looking at a turbo model year 2005 it is a 996. It is also worth noting that one of the best values is the 996 Turbo, there are many low mileage cars to choose from at about a third of their original cost. The 996 Turbo and GT3 do not have the IMS problem that the other 996 models have which can destroy the motor if not retrofitted with after market parts. Good luck with your search.
The Eagle has landed!
First... thank you for all the great input. I learned a lot.
I just bought a 2008 Cab Turbo (997). I probably paid a little high, but its a cherry with 26K mile sand flawless. I paid $66,500. Any thoughts.
