Cost of rsr clone???

Hi guys,

I saw an rsr clone for sale today. It was a late 70's that cloned a 73 body and had a couple engine mods (not original engine and not rsr) they also spruced up the interior with racing seats, new gauges, steering wheel, and upgraded suspension. Their asking price seemed high to me at almost 60k

So it got me wondering, let's say you have a base car to start with. How much would it cost to clone the body of an rsr including labor and do some engine mods (nothing crazy like an rsr but maybe rebuild the existing engine and add aftermarket intake, exhaust, etc) as well as some interior mods and maybe suspension. I think the rsr looks awesome but I don't know much about them.

I know the total cost would vary greatly depending on how exact you want to clone the rsr and quality of parts/labor but speaking in generalities - let's say the base car would be around 20k, I would think that the mods mentioned above wouldn't equal 40k even including labor. Wouldn't it just be cheaper to do yourself if you already have the car?

Or am I way off? Is it a good deal for a stock late 70's with the above mentioned mods???
