Question Buying 996/997 Tomorrow?

Dont feel like spending the insane 997/.2 GT3 money so Im actually looking at two pristine base carreras tomorrow... a 996 and a 997. I will be putting half as many track miles on them as street miles since it will be my "daily" (which is approx 3k mi/yr) and drifting in the winter etc etc etc

figuring just slide in a LSD, light weight clutch & flywheel, intake tune exhaust and put on a set of used 996tt front brakes and some dtc-70pads motul 660 and some better sway bars so I can show up with a car that is fine to drive on the street yet able to be tracked at my professional level or am I completely kidding myself? not looking to set records but dont want to have to baby the car mainly due to the brakes which is the main bottleneck on any car at 11/10ths speed.

Looking at an entertaining 300whp car for approx 30k all in on the 996 and 41k on the 997.

Yes im well aware of better setups but i spend literly 95% of time time in my clients cars on the track and either drive the vanquish or something else im NOT going to track, to the track.

So anything I do here will be a step towards an "entertaining track/daily beater"

am I nuts?

(of course i am, im the guy who shoots ground hogs w his 338 Lapua Magnum and drives a gallardo spyder with the roof off in a blizzard w his ski gear on)
