paint thoughts

After many months in the shop and many thousands of dollars, my 42K mile 1982 RoW 911SC coupe, sunroof and AC delete, has been completely rebuilt mechanically. It drives like a dream and the SSI sport exhaust is music to my ears. I have it for the next couple of weeks to drive it and hopefully shake out any bugs before it goes into the body shop for a strip and paint. The car is guards red with a navy blue interior, yes, navy blue. The heritage certificate verifies this. Anyway, I am unsure as to I should have it painted single stage or base with clear. The car is very clean and straight, fairly original, but it will not be a trailer queen, but a car to drive and enjoy. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you posted this on Rennlist or Pelican? I'm curious too. I have an 81 that needs a paint job too! I runs like a dream!

paint

The body has been disassembled, (all glass removed, doors, front fenders, hood and trunk removed) sandblasted and primed with an anti-corrosive primer. Another primer will be applied and then will be going with a 2 stage Guards Red, original paint color,

If it's going to be a driver then I say 2 stage base/clear is your best bet. I love the blue interiors by Porsche in this area. Sounds like a fine ride!
