New to the forum
Hi all, I am new to this forum. I live in Sydney, Australia and love Porsches.
Our family has owned about 25 porsches in the last 30 years or so, from 356's to 996 Turbos, 993 Turbo, etc.
all the new porsches come and go, but have kept on to a special one, a genuine 1973 RS, it is the car in my avatar. I also have an 81 SC which is my daily driver, it is all original with no mods, except for a tubi exhaust and I rebuilt the engine which now puts out around 210 brake, which is about 5 to 8 BHP more then it had stock. I love it, but the RS is the real pride and joy
Any other Aussies on this forum?

Welcome.
Can you explain what the 73 RS makes so special to drive compared to other (classic) Porsches?

cheers lads.
The engine on the 73 RS was rebuilt and done a bit of work, it's got about 225BHP which is about 15 or so more then they had stock fromt he factory in 1973.
What makes the RS so special to drive? It is a purpose built factory race car, it is leightweight, has fantastic handling, awsome acceleration and stopping. Also the fact that only 100 RHD were ever built makes them rare. A lot of the ones you see racing are replicas. Many people buy a 911T, 911E or 911S and build it up to look and go like an RS.
I have just done some major mods to my 911SC, I want to make it handle like the RS. I have put on turbo tie rods, new bilstein sports shocks (F&R), strut tower brace, front and rear sway bars, torsion bars, adjustable camber kit (running 3/4 deg neg) , all new mounts and rubbers, bilstein strut inserts, strut top bushes. Monoblock Porsche racing brembos with slotted rotors and race pads.
The 911 SC now has a very similar feel to the RS, it just doesn't have the same kick up the butt that the RS has, although the handling is very much on par now
I love them both.
I am going to turn my SC into a bit of a track race car, and look after the RS and only do the occasional special event race or rally in it.
