Spacers on 8x16 fuch's for the rear...
 

Any of you guys running the 8x16 rear fuch's with spacers. Perhaps about a 3 millimeter or so to get the wheels a little more even with the flare. Would be a cheap temp fix till I got some larger fuch's.:(

I have 8s in back with no spacers. Pretty happy with the way it sits right now. My alignment and ride height settings would not allow me to run even a 3MM spacer, as it rubs just a tad under full-compression on the left-rear. I'm thinking about raising it and picking up some Kinesis or Speedline Alesio wheels if I can find them.

I have 9s on mine, so no need to change:cool:

Yeah well you have that endless supply of Porsches to get parts off of. I would jump on a pair of 16x9's for a decent price.

I gotta think about about savings for a bit...gotta start building that new garage soon.

I ran 8 x16's on the rear of my '87 for 20 years. I thought about putting spacers on the rear, like you, to get the wider look. I decided to buy 9 x 16's last year....at a big cost ($1250/wheel plus $250 per wheel to have them refinished with polished rims and black cores). I shod them with 245 x45 16zr16's. I think your car looks GREAT Pipes. What is your ride height? Mine is at Euro height, but looks like it sits a little higher than yours. The 7s and 9s are perfect!

Mike.....I don't know what the specs are for Euro heights but my car sits between 48" and 49" above pavement at the roof and 3 3/4" above pavement at the rear jack pads. We have to jack it up under the engine case to get hydrolic lift arms under it for service!! The shocks are rally sport stiffness and sway bars are turbo thickness heavy duty. She rides pretty stiff, but that's the way I like it......Denny:D

From what I understand, Euro ride height is 25" rear and 25.5" front, measured from the ground to the fender lip. When you get a chance, could you measure yours? What kind of alignment are you running?

Sorry for the slight OT, but when talking about wheel widths, you have to be concerned with ride height and alignment settings.

Mike..my front wheel lip is 24 1/8" off pavement and my rear is 23 1/4". I don't know the camber on the wheels, but I will try to get that info for you from my Porsche shop.....Denny:D

Wow, I had no idea 9's were worth so much these days. Guess I'll have to dust of my Fuchs collection! I never did use my 9's or 8's that I picked up a decade ago. Be careful about spacing them out, you don't want to have a high speed compression burn the fender causing a paint blister on the top. I've seen this happen, its no fun.

Thanks for the warning, but I don't have any spacers behind the wheel...there's no more room in the fender well to move the tire any futher out than it is currently located!!;)

What do you think about that artwork had painted on the side panels....that's original factory paint....21 years young.....Denny

Porsche really did a great job painting these cars....as long as the owners kept up with them......looks like you have.:)
