Best looking wheels for a 928
Yes, very Porsche-loyal & nice. I think 928's got a short-end-of-a-stick when it comes to wheels...which is why I opt for 18's now, plus it allows more rubber on the ground...a plus with 500+hp.

You shouldn't go bigger than 18" because diameters get too big and rubbing and decreased performance are problems.
I went as big as will fit on an S4 without rolling the fenders or using steering rack stops: 18x9.5 et68 front and I stayed conservative in the rear with 18x10 et52. With this size I run 265/35/18 all around, or I could run (rear) 275/35 or 285/30 and be OK. An 11" wide rear wheel will fit, but I don't think there is a need to be that wide in the rear when the fronts are maxed out at 9.5".
I don't have any issues in the front with that size and offset wheel.
The obvious problem running 911 or Boxster take-offs is that the front wheel will be much narrower than the rear and the front offset is not big enough. This leads to poor steering feel and possibly rubbing the fender lip also. Too much size difference front to back leads to a car that understeers bad, even though many will argue that you can dial that out with sway bar mods.
Most people only care about looks, so a cool looking wheel set that makes the car drive worse makes them happy.
This is my $.02
p.s. the problem I ran into after going with sticky 265 rubber at all four corners was that my Bilstein/Eibach suspension felt too soft. The car had so much more grip that you could carry more speed in every corner, so I felt like my suspension was too mushy and unglued. I then went to 600/400 Hypercoil springs and had the Bilsteins revalved to match and was totally happy. The body roll and movement was minimal and it felt stable. Real happy with the outcome, and it is still liveable in normal driving.
