How can I get info from a VIN # ?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get information on a car I'm interested in buying. It is a 930 and supposedly a factory slant nose. From what I understand about slant nose M505 optioned cars was that Stuttgart didn't start this until '81. This particular car I'm interested in says it is a 1980 build and is a Euro car imported and federalized.

I'm going to post the Vin here just in case anyone may be able to help me out with any information about this vehicles history, etc. 93A0070787

The title says "exempt" on the mileage. Do you guys think I can walk-in to my local dealership and ask for them to run the VIN to see what options this 930 came with?

TIA

TIA,

Check out 930S.com. Most of the answer you are seeking are spelled out there. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the entire site and there is a lot of hype but the essential info is pretty accurate.

They back up '81 as the first year for factory slant production.

M505 (US slants) optioned cars did not start until '87 before that these were special wishes cars. in '87 they were manufactured as production cars with the M505 code. You can not tell an M505 or an earlier special wishes optioned car by looking at the VIN alone.

I have a friend who lives in Stuttgart who could provide me with the info you seek but unfortunately he is on vacation and won't be back until mid April probably too late for you. You might try to get the number of the claasic car parts section at the factory from PCNA if they themselves can't help....The guys in Stuttgart who work for classic parts speak English and can lead you to the info you need....

Try and get the entire VIN....If what you posted is accurate it follows a different format than the '82 thru '89 model years...
