Buyers have to keep in mind that an original motor would cost another $75k minimum so it hurts the value of the car big time. Just like someone having a `73 RSR 2.8 that the previous owner put a 993 3.6 in....

if you can find an rsr with the 993 engine in it for $200-300,000, buy it, those cars are selling in the 400-600,000 range. do you honestly think that race cars from the 70's really have their original engines today, come on ! If the original engine lasted one season, it was a miracle. i agree, an original type engine would be a big plus. check the prices of 70's porsche factory race cars available today, original engine or not.

Most old race cars DO have the original type of engine they raced with. The cost of the engine is one of the biggest parts of the high price tags. Go to the Monterey Historics, Rennsport Reunion, or anywhere else where classic Porsche race cars run and let me know how many RSR's and 935's you see running without the original type of engine. I'll save you the time and give you the answer now, NONE.

i've been to monterey, rennsport, etc. The bottom line is what are they willing to sell their cars for, with the so-called original type engine ? My guess $300,000-600,000. Does any one know what they are asking for the 934 ?
