speaking of tokyo, while not a widebody porsche (so i maybe dammed to off topic purgatory), this was a serious vehicle
(tokyo great city for carcrazy's)....spotted on our walk back from shiroganedai to ebisu outside tiny mechanic's shop in hiro-o area, and had the opportunity to talk to mechanic & i believe driver (my bad japanese his weak english).
-winner at Dakar in truck under 10L. class (overall 7th place) & holds record for most consecutive wins at Dakar
-team sugiara, sponsored by Hino. special build powered by straight 8 Hino engine, 450HP turbocharged & running approx 25lbs boost so he estimates approx 900 HP under WOT
-steel drivers compartment, rest of the body is aluminum & carbon F., and in process of swapping most of aluminum panels for CF.
-3 onboard computers
sorry for pics, all i had was mobile phone.

Outstanding cars guys!
Where can one obtain a widebody "kit" for a 964? I really like the 964, and I am planning on acquiring one within the next 12 months, but the Turbos are a bit out of my budget, from what I have seen. I really like the wide body look of the turbo, and I would be THRILLED with a really well done after-market wide body enhancement on a stock 964. Any info regarding cost and quality and materials (steel? fiberglass?) would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks gang!

you have 3 options, fibreglass (may tend to "sag" after a bit....), or buy wrecked steel flares from a 964 or 930 turbo and find a good body shop. i think these options depending on quality of finish / installations will be in the range of $15,000 plus. you will still have to upgrade to larger wheels/tires (stock turbos came with 17" & bigger tires, better brakes) OR buy a turbolook 964
for 964 series there were 2 turbolooks on C2 platforms. a 964 anniversary coupe built in 1964 and used turbo flares but completely standard C2 set up or
92 turbolook cab (america roadster) which had C2 platform BUT alsob complete suspension/oversized brakes/wheel set up of the turbo..........

Don't forget that 1994 C4 coupes were all (?) wide bodies. Those are factory steel and command a premium, but not as much as you would typically pay to buy a different car and have the work done by a pro.

This is my 1994 C4 Factory Turbolook, (Widebody). They are beautiful, and comparitivley rare, (238 coupes made). Grab one if you can, you'll love it, however, they are very, very hard to find for sale. Good luck however you choose to go...........SeeFour
