Collector plates/status finally!

started the application process in April with my insurer....finally got approval.
it took a heap of documents (assembled with the help of Porsche N.Amer., Porsche Club of Amer - valuation committee, WTL Register in Germany) catalog of photos, inspection.

to qualify(with my insurer):
-car must be over 15yrs. old
-must be limited edition with global production of less than 1500 cars
-must be pristine/near pristine
-unmodified or modifications to satisfaction of insurer
-accident free (as verified by direct investigation by insurance co.)
-must be kept in a locked garage or secure (gated underground parking)
-driver must be accident free for 10yrs, and car cannot be used to/from work

what is does for me:
-no deductible on a loss claim
-agreed upon value (no hassle loss claim)
-reduced my annual insurance premium by plus 40%

collector plates

do you have to have the plates before you get the insurance break? all my 3 P cars are under an collector's insurance policy and the only requirement is that i have other registered vehicles as daily drivers - seems a lot of hassle in BC! but congrats, you made it!

yes - each car is "an individual application".....whether you have another dd is not a factor. the insurance underwriter considers accident record of the vehicle (which they verify), condition of the vehicle (which they confirm by inspection/catalog of pics) and if less than 25yrs old provision of documentation that global production is less than 1500 vehicles, and requirement primary driver/any 2ndary driver have 10yr accident free record.
