BMW enthusiast looking at widebody 964 project
BMW enthusiast looking at widebody 964 project
I was fortunate enough to grow up around 911's so I got the P-car Bug early in life and learned to drive stick on a porsche 911 S 996. Ive always wanted one of my own, I have been thinking about selling my 335i coupe and getting a 996 turbo, but I stumbled upon a turbo body 964 project with the engine/trans removed, everything else intact.
The car needs a good amount of work, but Im willing to restore it and put it back on the road. Im starting to love the body style and the retro look the more I look at clean examples, despite all the work its going to need.
(The bad) Parts missing I would need to source:
Mirrors
Lower Rocker panel
Lower bumper brace
Front Turn and marker light holders
Stereo, speakers
lower dash (3 pieces)
Rear seat side panels
Rear seat side panel trim
Targa top liner
Targa bar cover needs to be reglued
Targa top covers need to be reglued
Front bumper smile or bumper to fender seal missing
The car actually seems to be in pretty good shape, will need a little body work but nothing too major, mostly paint defects. Already has a very nice carbon fiber wing, Im planning on doing a renegade LSX motor swap, I know its not what a true porsche enthusiast would do but its cheap swap and good power level (400hp).
Let me know what you guys think, I might be in over my head but I just want this car so bad! Any gurus willing to give me an estimate on how much those missing part will cost me if I bargain shop for them online?
Thanks, Will most likely pick it up this weekend if its going to happen.
