964 Diminished Value question
964 Diminished Value question
Recently I was rear-ended by an out of control Cadillac Escalade which caused $8500+ in damage to my 1989 964 coupe. After repairs, Circle Porsche offered me only $25,000 in trade. I know that my car was worth at least $10K more than that before it was damaged. Does anyone have advice regarding hiring a legitimate diminished value appraiser? Most have very sketchy reviews and I don't wish to be one of those people. Thank you.
I used a guy JD. Howard, his website is Ican2000 dot com. He wasn't successful in my case but that was partly my fault (I lost some of the case law he sent me right before I went to court). I went to small claims court and they needed someone to testify in person(he lives in Missouri). I later hired a different appraiser and it STILL wasn't enough for the Mickey Mouse judge I had. At the very least, call him and talk to him. He was one of the most straight up guys I have ever dealt with and did a LOT of work for the couple of hundred I paid. PM me for specifics or any questions.
Thank you for your input. I looked through a great many auto diminished value appraisers and found most had bad reviews. Your guy never showed up in my searches, by the way. I wound up hiring The St. Lucie Appraisal Company. No bad reviews anywhere so....I will post my results here after all is said and done.
Was your car insurance agreed value or stated value? Believe it or not that is actually probably a reasonable offer. I had my 964 appraised about 3 months ago and it came back right at $25k.
Hagerty Insurance has a valuation tool http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtool...port?vc=943796 a 964 C2 coupe and most will fall at or between vehicle condition 2 or 3 the value range is right there between $20k-$29k.
Hagerty/appraisers will tend to use more conservative values and considering the market trend for 964s (993 especially), they may not reflect what the actual market or what you think you should be getting is.
Sorry to hear about your loss.

I received the diminished value report from St. Lucie Appraisal that lists the opinions of six Porsche dealers which average $7,700.00. Wish me luck, I have heard that insurance companies are not very reasonable when it comes to diminished value claims. I'm satisfied with the service from this appraiser at any rate.
