Question on turbo optional 9.5" classic rims

Turbo rims width 8.5 " with 245/35 fts and 305/30 rears.
S turbo 9.0" rim with same tires as turbo.
Classic 5-spoke rim offers 9.5" rims with 255/40 fr-tires but only 295/35 r-tires.

The question....The 255 mm front tire is 10.3 inches wide whereas 245/35 tire is 9.64 inches, so front tires are indeed wider on Classic rims.
But the rear tires on classic rims with 295/35 tires, these tires are only 11.6 inches wide whereas 305 tires are 12.4 inches wide. Why the narrower rear tires with the 9.5 inch rims? Does this reduced size have something to do with speedometer calibration?
