Just submitted my TT build

The search for this car has taken a circuitous path but I finally ended up with a great machine. I have always loved the Porsche TTs but they were always a bit small for my needs. Well, I have finally gotten tired of driving large GTs and SUVs. So I started looking at some used 997.2 Turbo S's in the $120k-135k range. I had seen the 991TT prices and they were more money than I wanted to spend.

I had pretty much settled on a used low mileage 997.2 Turbo S. However, even though I was happy to be getting a TT powered 911, I also yearned for all the benefits the new 991 chassis. In addition, I had always loved the Targas and I'd also been following the spy photos and other info on the new targa for the last 6 months. I figured the Targa 4S would be great for me as I would getting the 991 chassis along with a very cool and innovative Targa top which I loved. In my mind though, I still lusted after the 500+ hp of a TT.

I started playing around with the Porsche cofigurator. I built a C4S cab which would likely be comparable in price to the upcoming Targa4S. After doing a number of builds on the configurator I decided to see what a TT would cost with a reasonable list of options. I soon realized that a well optioned Targa 4S will run 140k+ and a nicely equipped TT was in the low to mid 160k range. So here I am, TT ordered yesterday and counting down the days until delivery.

I have seen a few threads where people have questioned why anyone would purchase a TT over a TTS. As I had mentioned in another post, if you can't or don't want to spend $190-200k on a car the TT is a great option for at least 30k less if you don't need all the bells and whistles like PDCC, PCCB, LED headlights etc. I say bravo to Porsche for offering the TT and TTS together at somewhat different price points.

My build

GT silver metallic
Espresso natural leather
Seat heating front
Sport design mirrors
Window trim in aluminum
Luggage net in pass footwell
Smoking package
Porsche entry and drive
Light design package
Park assist with reversing camera
Sport chrono package
Sunroof in glass
PSP
Voice control
Center console trim in leather

MSRP. $164,820

No, the LEDs and the PCCB were the first options that I scratched off the build list. I figured the Xenons are more than adequate. Sure the LEDs probably look sweet and provide a bit better illumination but as I mentioned, I'm basically at or over my budget. I was more torn over the PDCC but decided to forego it to keep the price down.

Porsche did the right thing by offering both the TT and TTS concurrently to provide a direct choice between the two. The problem is that if you want the power of the S, you have to pay for a bunch of bells and whistles which many may not want. They should offer both TT and TTS, in relatively basic form, and let the buyer decide which options he/she wants to add. Basically like the choice they offer between carrera and carrera S
