GIAC Stage 2 and my Turbo S

Last week I did the Stage 2 software on my Turbo S. I have had a Tubi Street Exhaust on the car for a few months now. I wanted to do my "upgrades" as separately as possible to feel the gains/etc. So when the team at Champion Motorsport called and told me stage 2 was ready I drove right over. It was, as usual, a very easy and pleasant experience dealing with them.

The stage 2 flash is really incredible! The car is insanely fast whether your at a standstill or going 50mph. The Turbo S feels like it has so much power on demand. I can highly recommend the flash to everyone.

I never did a dyno on the car so I can't speak to the numbers gained besides what has been posted. I can tell you a few interesting facts I've encountered. After doing the open campaigns on the turbo s I lost all the g force highs I previously had. So after driving my car around a few days I felt like my exhaust got quieter and I decided to launch it to see any change. Well was I disappointed I could only get 1.26 on the g force now! I'm guessing the ECU adjusted to the Tubi. I wasn't thrilled but I knew GIAC had stage 2 coming. I've only launched the car once since my update and pulled 1.36!!!! BTW I always launch the car in the same spot/same conditions for comparison. I actually believe I can get a higher g force when/if we could get some cooler weather here in south FLORIDA! This is about all the "factual" data I can give everyone in regards to performance.

In the end I've had the stage 2 flash over a week and I love it! I definitely feel the performance difference and hear it! Thanks again to the guys at Champion for taking care of me!

That's very interesting. I have GIAC stage 1 with GMG exhaust and typically get a 1.23 on launch. I saw a 1.28 once and never again. I Actually thought there was something wrong with my car until I attended the 1/2 mile airfield races where I proceeded to crush the competition. During the races on the runway my best G force launch was 1.06. I'm starting wonder if there is inconsistencies on how the Porsche gauge actually works.

All I know is the proof is in the pudding. When stacking my GIAC car up against the competition, the only cars that gave me good race were GIAC tuned Audi's and TTS's.

Great job GIAC. Can't wait for my Stage 2 update.

Sorry I'm in FL. I'm pretty sure Champion Motorsport has done a dyno on a stage 2 Turbo S though.

BigRich, I am in S.Fl. Have you run 100 Octane yet? I have Stage 2 also from Champion.
In West Palm at 45th and Austrailan Sunoco 260Gt fuel is $9.00 gal. Otherwise, at PBIR and Homestead.
Hope to see you at the track soon!

Hey thanks for the heads up! I haven't tried running 100 octane as I've been enjoying stage 2. I do wonder what it would be like. I'm not a track guy but I may go out once or twice after the holidays.

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and do appreciate that right off the bat, I get discussion that is helpful to me. I have a 2011 Turbo S (997.2) and want to pick the right software flash. This is the first and possibly only mod I will do to improve performance. That being said I want to make the right choice. I have visited Champion in Pompano when I was nearby on business and would trust these guys to do anything on my car. It is a long way from home however. I have two flash options that are fairly close by. One is APR and another is Evolution Motorsports. Are any of you familiar with them and what are your thoughts?

I wonder what Consumer Reports would say the best software would be for my car?? Thanks in advance for any replies....

Bluto,

APR is pretty awesome and I was seriously scoping them when I had my VW. They were the first company I looked at when ordering my 991 but from what I can tell they don't have a flash yet. That being said, GIAC is bad-a as well and they are ready right now!

Saturday night I ran at Homestead with my GIAC stage 2 tuned TTS. Ran on 93 Octane tune. Race gas pumps were closed.
I have a friend with a new GT3. We both run on SC2 tires.
About a month ago we ran basically equal at Homestead.
Saturday night I was gone. I could keep up with the cup cars if I wanted to really push it.
One thing, GT3 aero look is definitely more appealing.
My sound with the Tubi is awesome now!
Launch control now is crazy addictive.
Bang for the buck, GT3 only choice.

Just got the GIAC stage 2 with the Tubi street exhaust installed on a 2015 991 Turbo. Amazing. The car should of came from the factory like this. I use to run the car in sport mode all the time, now the comfort mode is all I need.

As for the noise level, basically a little louder than stock at idle and cruising say 5-10%, still can hold a conversation in the car and listen to the Burmester or talk on the cell phone. Couldn't be happier with the end results.

Tom over at Champion couldn't of been more supportive and responsive to customer needs shoot him an email and he'll be there. He's also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to any questions about the flash or the Tubi exhaust system.

Cons: The dealer in Houston that did the install stripped one of the clamps while installing the exhaust and left the exhaust tips too far out so that the factory cover wouldn't go over the car anymore.

They also charged like 8 labor hours for the install along with another 1 hour in getting the flash done. I wouldn't mind paying the 1300 buxs for the install if it was done right the first time. That and they were touting that that did like 5 of these installs already, go figure on that one.

I guess there's always something, but no fault to the guys over at GIAC and Champion they're great the whole way thru.
