Did you try some of the launch burnouts? Really difficult to soften the DRs up for maximum grip on our 4wd cars.Originally Posted by Markblackwell
Thanks Nigel, M/t are great but there is still quite a bit of wheel spin. My buddy took a couple videos I will get them up loaded tomorrow, were string in traffic on the way home right now
Congrats Pal, Happy to see you perform. Really is what its all about no matter how we get there!
A 1.5 60 isn't anything to sneeze at, but I doubt anyone is going to do much better with 20" rear wheels, regardless of tire. I'm guessing people will need to step down to 19s and get taller sidewalls. The MTs are a very soft compound for a radial 20" tire.

John Morgan had a 60 foot time in the 1.4s on P Zeros at Atco. I kid you not. Mine were in the 1.5s on the same day with Pilot Super Sports.Originally Posted by Visceral

Sure, but if I took you and John to a random drag strip in this country and timed your 60' tomorrow, neither of you could run that again. Originally Posted by sdg1871

It would be a fun day, but I wouldn't expect 10.1s.

At the time of Atco neither of our cars were making the amount of power that Mark's car is now making. At the time of Atco I was about 30 bhp and 30 lbs ft shy of what Mark's car and now my car is making. Also the DA was not great that day -- about 1500 feet which is high for Atco in fallOriginally Posted by Visceral

But with my current tune level and MTs I would expect to beat Mark's time. Also, Atco js super fast. Home to many records.

At GiAC Stage 2 plus and the current power level of that we are really at the point where you need to drag radials to go faster as street tires cannot handle the initial burst of power coming off the line. I was hampered all day long at Atco by lack of traction off the line with my PSS tires

OK thanks. I wonder what wheels. Also, I think we need to have a category for best time with stock tires and wheels. That is the most reasonable way to make the comparisons. But that is just my opinion. It is also true that bad conditions at the track can make a difference. I think if I hadn't been running with a nail in my tire two weeks ago I would have had better 60ft times. The DA was 1500 when I went to the county road and got 1.65 60fts and on Saturday I was running a 400 DA with 1.75s, it was perfect conditions and a bad tire. Always the right combination of factors needs to be present to get the best run. They day you guys got the god 60fts in Oct was also another one of those times where part of the conditions were ideal. Obviously that surface was sticky otherwise you couldn't get 1.5 on PZeros.Originally Posted by sdg1871

Im not sure I agree, you had some really good 60ft times. Have you looked at the difference in slippage I was getting from my Speed vs RPM plots with the same tires and different conditions? I think TC off is a must but also the tires have to be hot. I got 1.65 60s on 51lb tires that were hot and run back to back. I burned them in once with the first run then turned around and ran two back to back 1.65s. The Speed vs RPM data from the AP showed that the burn in made a big difference. So did the lack of a nail in the tire. I am not so sure that letting a lot of air out is that critical but it could add to the benefit of a hotter tire. I think Enzom said he bought some tire warmers for his trip to Atco last winter or whenever it was he went.

Yes Mickey Thompson street et. Tires on stock wheels in the back, and I was running stock Pzeros up front on stock wheels, the the biggest plus for the m/t are consistency . These tire are still spinning off the line quite a bit, if you get a perfect launch I'm sure I could hit a 10.1 but at are current power levels that would be it. The drag radial are soft but there is no way to get them heated up at the trackOriginally Posted by wrs

To get my times at Atco I changed tire pressure 4 times and I did TC off burnouts to hear the tires up. John Morgan also changed pressures and did burnouts. My car's best time was actually with TC on but that was a fluke-- John Morgan was driving and launched the car perfectly. All the other 10.3s were with TC off.Originally Posted by Markblackwell

I do have 2 sets, I have 21" HRE's that are my bling wheels with Pzeros. I use my stock set for my Laguna seca tires, and now I use them for the drag radial as well. My garage is filling up with tires and all this craziness really fast, now I've also got an extra set of Trofeo R's to put on when my Dunlops wear out.Originally Posted by wrs

OK, now I get it. I was thinking of a second set of RC101s with something more grippy for the track and maybe the drag strip but I have the issue with the garage too. I do have a spot that I could stack four tires though so it's in the back of my mind. In the meantime, I am going to continue forging ahead with my attempts to do better than 10.5s ET with stock PZeros. I expect to run in excess of 136 when I do though because most of the gain is going to be after 60ft. I don't expect better than 1.6s 60ft on any consistent basis with the PZeros.Originally Posted by Markblackwell

The drag strip down in SanAntonio is probably going to be closed most of December and January so any stuff I do will come from my county road which will be Vbox based times. Anyway, great time!

you have to get heat in your tires and it with your road trip and then being able to do back to back runs that will do it. Even with the m/t after my runs I got out and felt the tires and they were not warm. Now my track tires when they get hot they are like glue but they are hard when cold, if I could run around a track for 2 laps then pull up to a starting line I'm sure my car could run a 10.0 So I can almost gaurantee you will get a better time with your Vbox on your country road then at the strip. At the strip we have no way to heat the tires upOriginally Posted by wrs
