Best tires for sustained high speed driving

Hey guys

as topic says: what tires do you think is the best for sustained high speed driving?

900hp+ at the wheels 1.6 ton ok aero dynamics.

Speed range 250kmh - 375kmh.

I think that the michelin cup gets wobbly.

Thanks

One of the highest speed rated tires I know of is the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Have you actually driven at over 200mph on MPSS's? I wouldn't trust it, no way. Top speed runs especially sustained ones are no joke. Specs don't mean anything. It needs to be proven with testing and experience.

R888's are king, proven on various platforms to 250mph. I wouldn't bother with anything else especially if you really mean sustained.

To the original poster - Cup 2's are very soft and probably why are you feeling a bit wobbly. Try some R888's. I went 300kph / 187mph several times on Cup 2's in the Porsche and don't really like it either. It's fantastic for the track though. On R888's on a different platform I've gone about 340kph about 210mph.

I don't know how you're gonna reach 375kph unless you have some serious serious power like 1500whp+.

You need to talk to Jay at EvoSpec who built the Evo1700 or whatever and ask him. Or talk to Anthony Taylor the owner. Don't trust these forums for high speed runs including mine.

Yes R888 are worn by many of the top cars at Speed events. Unfortunately for the 991 turbo, the sizes for the R888 that Toyo manufactures in 20s would only fit the rear and not the front. They don't have a 20 inch tire narrow enough to fit the front of our cars. Which is unfortunate as I would love to get a set of four.

No R compound tire performs well in wet or cold. That is why I run Pilot Super Sports.
Excellent in wet. When cold months come I switch to Michelin Pilot Alpin 4s winter tire

Ahh yes, no sizes. No wonder. Might have to go 19's then.

19 inch wheels will not fit in front at least not on one with PCCB. The Porsche carbon ceramic brakes are 410 mm in the front and you must use a 20 inch wheel in front.

Any of the road race tires would be sufficient, if R888 wont fit, check out AD08's and RE11's, also great tires.

Isnt there a new version of the R888 just released as well?

Actually I hear the r888 does pretty well as a wet track tire. I didn't know until I got caught in a torrential thunderstorm coming back from the race track...roads had a lot of standing water and the r888's did fantastic plowing through at 75mph no worries at all...and so I started asking around and found out a lot of racers will use them as their wet track tire.

Yes I know it is designed with some wet weather capability. Says so on the Toyo website. Still if I had a choice I'd rather be caught in a rainstorm with MPSS.

I wouldn't mind a set of R888s. Unfortunately no fronts are available for the 991 TT/TTS
