Hey Chris, haven't heard from you in a while. You get a 991? Still have the 997.2?

Curious if the same thing happened to you as what happened to me on the .2 Although I kept the stock turbos, with the upgraded fuel system and turning up the stock turbos all the way, I kept getting PDK drive line errors beyond simply slipping clutches. It was like the PDK would cut power to protect itself. Because i was turning the 997.2 into a track car anyway, I didn't need 800 crank HP so I had GIAC remove the fuel system and I'm just running a conservative track file now and the PDK is happy.

Hello sir. I have been laying low because work has been crazy busy and I've been traveling weekly for months. I haven't been able to do anything with the 997.2 since getting it back because the PDK can't hold the power. Luckily I haven't had any PDK errors just slipping in higher gears during shifts. Looking forward to getting the clutches so I can actually enjoy it and put it to use. It's a shame it's just been sitting around collecting dust.

I didn't get a 991 yet but most likely will be ordering a PTS .2 from Champion come winter time as long as nothing else catches my eye. I've been lurking to see what performance they do in stock form and once tuned. Hasn't been a whole lot of info out yet.

I was hoping the clutch assembly was going to be there today, as soon as it gets to me I will be test driving it 2 days later and let you guys know how it operates. Im assuming the clutches are going to grab a little harder than stock we will see hopefully this weekend?

I am very much curious on PDK 991 development from Dodson. The tranny is the only thing thats stopping me from buying a 991 right now. 175-180mph traps in the 1/2 sound fun but built tranny daily use is a question for me.

I have experience with built dodsons on GTR's, and they all shift kind of hard even tho the tuners all claim "just like stock". and once you get it in the car its kind of late to turn back.

I think the problem is that everyone has a different expectation, and a difference tolerance for things that are not exactly like stock. Undoubtedly, they'll shift a bit more rough, but in my opinion that's OK

There's comes a point with every high HP car where you have to be willing to compromise some of the car's OEM characteristics in order to make big power and go fast.

Tom and Mark; you guys are absolutely correct there is always a give and take. More power usually means sacrifices. There is a point where things get too much IMO and at that point you cross into race car category. I’ve been through 700-1100hp supras and GTR's and i never wanted to drive those things much around town. There was always some sort of issues poping up. My current 997tt is an absolute joy on the street, it’s truly as close to stock as it gets while having daily 800HP on $2.2/gal gas. It’s just nice to jump into a car in the morning and not worry about hitting traffic/overheating/warning lights/etc. Stock 991tts are wonderfully refined i don’t think most owners would want to go super hardcore.

Mark, When is the event in Oct? I will be going to Indiana in a few weeks for the wannagofast event. I have to load a different map that Sam sent me as I am trying to break the 180's as well. I have to rethink using nitrous as the trans is slipping a lot with the last map I had. Anyways, we will see what happens in Indiana and then I will work the PDK upgrade. I hope to see you in the 180 plus club

Jeff

Jeff, oct 22&23 is the next shift sector. I'm all for the spray just don't fry your clutch pack, those are not sold seperatly Porsche only sells the full transmission for 27K it's been looked in to. Good luck in Indiana your car the way it sits is an easy 180 if you can keep the trans from slipping to badly.

Jay the tech sent me a video that made me pucker a bit. Turned it down a little so let's see. Just have to keep Jeff's finger off that nitrous button

Mark, I'm really pumped to see what you can do with your stage 4!

Ok. Seems the 3.8 DI platform in the 997.2 and 991's are going to have a hard time moving forward now without some successful PDK upgrades. Good luck guys.
