Cayman R or Base 991?
Thanks, and I especially appreciate the sound advice you provided in multiple threads. Moreover, your description of your track experience was a significant factor in motivating me to get a car suited for track use.
Amazing how much impact cars can have in our lives!

you have a great track machine...it will give you laps and laps of sheer pleasure...all the best
Picked up the CR today. Awesome car! Performance and Porsche feel similar to the 911S, but still different enough to add variety. Surprisingly comfortable, easy and fun to drive fast, great throaty/raspy sound, and I can see why some consider it a better pure driver's car than the 911. Really a good value IMO, at $80K out the door, considering what it offers.
Here's a quick pic.

Congrats on your new CR! My CR is white also. Now you have the best of both worlds a 911 and a 987 in the same stable. I guess time will only tell which you like better. Any noticeable differences you can comment on as of yet?
My perception of the differences after about 100 miles:
- CR feels lighter, lower, more balanced, and sharper in its reflexes. In general, more tossable and easier to drive fast with confidence. But the 911 has its own appeal too - slightly scary but in a fun way, and you learn to trust the grip more and more with time.
- Both feel comparably fast in acceleration, though I haven't really been able to wind up the CR yet because of the break-in period. Peak torque begins at about 4300 RPM, which is what I'm not supposed to exceed yet.

- Sound of the CR is more throaty/raspy, whereas the 911 sound is a bit more meaty. CR is also louder (at higher revs), though the wife and I don't mind it.
Overall, both cars are great, and I can't predict which one I'll eventually like more. Could be like choosing between two great flavors of ice cream, where the ideal is to be able to alternate between both.
There's one in message #42, and I'll post some more once I take some good ones.
By the way, is that a car lift I see in your avatar? We're thinking of getting one, since our garage is only two cars but we currently have three cars which deserve to be in the garage.
