i think that in anything other than a straight line contest, the 991 kills the R8 with its new systems (PTV, PDCC) and the improved PDK. however, it´s interesting that with conventional manuals and without these newest gizmos the R8 should still be slightly faster.

Both great cars (my 2 favourite ones in that price segment) that serve different purposes.

 

Great looking rides..I thought the new 991 had a time 0 to actually 62mph of 4.1? not 4.6 that is a big difference. Does the PDK make that big of a ifference? I had the PDK in my 997.2 and loved it..I may have to get in line to buy this ride next year? Hopefully we get some S model with PDK in my area soon.

 

yep, the car that IL tested was a manual, not a PDK 991.
The PDK 991 clocked a 4.1 in tests with launch control.
i think 4.6 is a bit slow for the manual 991 CS, Porsche claims 4.4 (to 62!) and with the right driver and conditions, it shouldn`t be out of reach if the PDK is able to clock a 4.1.

 

That is how performance reviews should start (without useless banter).

Of the two, I prefer the more aggressively styled R8. BUT - the 991 looked quite composed on the the slalom and skidpad. If this is the performance of the C2S, I wonder what the Turbo has in store.
