Used Carrera GTS versus 991S

I have been thinking that it would be nice to not take the depreciation hit of a new 991. By this summer the 2011 Carrera GTS will have been out for nearly two years and the 991 should be into the 2013 model year.

Lets say 25% depreciation for two years and also assume the same new price in Canadian $, ($125,000 for a 2011 GTS or a 2013 991S). The options will be slightly different I know. Based on the 25% depreciation, the GTS would sell for $94,000 which is a difference of $35,000 after our 13% tax.

So the question of course is whether a 2013 991S is worth $35,000 more than a 2011 Carrera GTS.

Any thoughts or comments?

Dean

you could always attempt to find a slightly used 991S. Perhaps someone will trade in their 991S for a 991C4S cab etc.

When the time comes, drive a 991. Only u can decide if the difference is night and day and if it's worth 35k. No one here has driven a 991 so it would all be guess work.

Its a tough call but I find that there are always many used like new Porsches on the market. I would say, wait a few months and look at a used 991S and compare it to a 997 GTS. Either way, I would drive both first.
