Opinions on car covers needed
I'm taking delivery of my first 911 this February, a 991S. This car will also be my first ever "2nd car" and will be driven only on weekends/special trips. I expect to keep it low miles and in great condition.
My question is the utility of car covers. Keeping my new 991 in my three car garage with two SUV's, a bunch of other stuff, two teenagers, and a garage that seems to be a magnet for leaves, debris, bugs, and other detritus, as well as my desire to do other things besides wash the car, seems to be a good reason for a car cover, but for those with experience with them, I am curious as to your thoughts.
Many thanks in advance for your replies.

I would go with the OEM indoor cover with that nice logo. Be aware that the car has to be very clean before the cover goes on it.

When I go on long trips, I double cover the car, using the OEM cover as the base, with a thicker, multi-layered dust cover over it to function as padding against all the perpetrators you mentioned.
So yes, I have $500+ worth of covering on my car when I leave it for months at a time. I am not the only one I know who does it that way. It does do a great job of keeping your car looking perfect until you are ready to take it out.
I had the OEM indoor cover for my 997S. I loved it!
That being said, it should only be used when the car is freshly clean. For example, if you have driven the car for a few days, I would not put the cover on until the car has been cleaned. The reason... applying the cover on a dusty/dirty car will cause swirling in your clear coat and also the inside of the cover will catch the debris.

I haven't seen the OEM Porsche cover in person, but from the pictures it looks like a good option.
If you want to go aftermarket, I have used the Covercraft "Form-fit" cover with good results. It looks pretty similar to the OEM one as far as materials go.
As everyone else has said, be very careful when putting the cover on and off of the car to avoid introducing scratches into your finish. If the car isn't perfectly clean when you put it on you will be grinding the dirt into the paint.
Also, if possible, have someone help you put the cover on. In my experience, using two people means that you can place the cover onto the car, minimizing the amount of dragging across the paint.
