LOLRoad America is very tempting, but a 14h road trip is pretty long! this being said, it would be fun to have a 991-6speeder's gathering in some kind of 'east-central' location.
No worries about watching your own video's, I do it all the time too
It is the best way to exactly refresh your memory and visualize the track before going to a DE!
Slightly off topic but regarding the GTR - I used to own one and I know first hand that it's quicker/faster than my 991S, especially at RA. Not knocking the 991 at all and I love it but the GTR is in a different league on a strictly performance level and that's before it's even been tuned, which is ridiculously simple to do. Quality wise it doesn't even begin to compare to the 991.

I didn't say I had any problems with the GTR and I liked the car a lot, just my personal opinion regarding overall fit, finish and materials used. To me the 991 is better in all these areas, especially the interior materials. Also, the paint on the GTR was "soft" and marked too easily. Both good cars but I prefer the 991.

No problem Marc. I agree about the 991 annihilating pretty much everything... except these darn GTR's
LOL

Wheels weight (continued from previous 991S...)
I swapped my Sport Techno wheels and my black 20" Innsbrucks today (not special reason, just checking what they look like on the Guards Red 991). This gave me the opportunity to compare the actual weight of a couple of wheelsets. The Carrera Classics and Innsbrucks had been weighted previously and I have added the Sport Techno wheels to the following table:

Sure, the Sport Techno's look great and may offer better grip with wider rubber (305 vs 295 at the rear), but, to my surprise, the weight penalty is significant compared to other wheels. This being said, you will probably not feel the difference for daily driving.

Your opinion matters
I remembered that I still had a set of stock dash and center console trim from my previous 991. This gave me the -unoriginal- idea to try to get them painted in another color. Carbon Fiber would of course be a nice option and I've had it before, but I'd rather stay with something a bit les expensive.
I am thinking about 2 options (besides leaving everything stock of course...):
-Get the trim painted Guards Red like on this pic:

-Go for a glossy 'piano' black finish that may look more classy (maybe with a chrome Porsche or 911 logo somewhere if it does not lok too much 'in your face').
I am in no hurry to do anything here. Feel free to comment

First congrats on your 2nd 991s
This one is a keeper I hope for you..haha, She's a beauty!
I would get the trims painted Red, look great with your red exterior.
Enjoy your new ride!

Very interesting!! Weight certainly matters on the track!
I'm looking at buying some track wheels with R888s right now. Looks
like AMT Tech1-210 weigh 17.5 lbs for the front and 20.1 lbs for the rear. Need to check on price, but assume not cheap.
Tirerack has Breyton Race GTSR-PF on sale for around $600 a piece. These weigh 17.3 lbs and 22 lbs respectively....seems like a pretty good deal...
Painting them would look good, please though, no chrome anything. Didn't your Cayman R have a logo in black on the painted interior trim? I would do a BLACK 911 or Porsche.
I have a 911 Targa deposit in and then my 987 goes full time track car but I am considering doing a 911 Sport Classic theme as it is one of my favorite 911s other than the Speedster. Since you have the aero kit maybe you can do some aero badging, I did like the sticker you had on the GT3.

Terrific. Thank you for the info. Mine 991 is also almost a year old. I will look into the rear brake recall. The dealership has been pretty good with keeping the car up to date. The brakes on the 991 are very effective just not what I am used to in my race car. I know, I know. This is not a race car. I am just looking for a little better feel that I am currently getting. And I drive a lot of miles so I do not want to make this a track car. Although I do take it out quite a bit.
I went up with to Road America with the PCA and the March of Dimes Drive for Babies. See videos below. March of Dimes was in the rain and it was really crowded.
The car just annihilates everything. Even completely stock. I will look into Northwoods. Here is a list of all events in our area. PCA at Road America is good. They keep things organized and take passing seriously so there are very few incidents. Although they changed rules last year. You can only be in group 1 (fast) if you have a roll bar. I ended up having to wait a lot to pass. But attendance is down so lots of track time. Not sure about running at Blackhawk. It is kind of a POS track. If you get off the track at all you could be going for a very serious ride. Not to mention is punishes brakes. I have heard that MVP Track Time is also pretty good.
We need to talk Serge into coming up here for the summer. Sorry to highjack the thread.

. Yes, you don't want to have an off at Blackhawk...even though it's a fun track. I'll look into PCA at RA then. A colleague has been trying to get me to go to march of dimes also...On brake flush - I use motul rbf660 and have done a couple of flushes on the 991 already without problem....using a motiv pressure bleeder. No issues thus far. Looking to put pagid yellow pads on for the track. Just ordered rims with r888 tires, so getting ready....
Tom
I do have a bunch of scraping with the aerokit, eg when getting out of public parking garages etc....but no damage thus far
