Nothing exceptional but I applied "Carrera S" side decals 'a la GTS', the sport front spoiler lip and a "911S' emblem at the back.
Overall, this is still very OEM and adds a the little touch of personalization I was looking for.

I read some negative comments in other threads about the spoiler lip but it actually looks good on the car.
Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do
i also bought the GTS decals from suncoast - they were delivered before i got the car & the car colour went from red to black. anyway, i haven't had a chance to install but great to see what they look like; even if they were only on your car for a few minutes..

killer thread - thx

New decals... and a few pics

Kyle at Porschestripes.com has done a great job -as usual- with racing numbers and a windshield visor decal to complete the current 'track' theme. Not sure I am going to leave it on the car forever, but I have 3 track events over the next 5 weeks, so I'll put them to good use

Will try to hit the Tail of the Dragon on my way back from TN later this week.

While I was on my way up North, I took a quick pic to do a 'before (stock) and after (now)' comparison. Only a few decals and wheels between the 2, but the real thing has not started yet

Bad day on the Tail of the Dragon

Great weather but tons of tourists driving <20mph. OK, this is a public road so I should not complain. This is not a track and you can already have a lot of fun when driving at the speed limit.

Bad thing was that the local Sheriff had decided to have bunch of guys on site and they were pulling people over, checking bikes, etc.
I knew they were around and was driving slowly and the most carefully I could. Still, i got pulled over because I would have "crossed the yellow line" :roll eyes:

I was filming with my GoPro and my iPhone and do not f@cking see where I "crossed the line".

My left tire may have hit the yellow line when I passed guys that were parked in order to leave them some room or may have been close to the line in the following turn. Even if it was the case and I touched the line, this all happened at 20 mph.

This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy about cops: if I do something wrong, I'll be the first to admit and agree to pay for my fault. But my wife and I have been caught on several identical occasions (not stopping long enough at a stop sign, sting operation to enforce 'moreover law', etc.) where it was all about the cop's word vs. mine in absence of any tangible evidence (guess who won each time )

Anyway, in this case, the Sheriff was clearly trying to scare off sports car and bikes and get them off US129.

Like Arnold said " I'll be back !"

One reason they pulled you over... ENVY oh and probably some power tripping throw in for good measure.... so I guess that's 2 things.

Your car looks AWESOME! to bad it'll attract some unwanted attention as well.

Time to change the tires!

First of all, thanks for all the nice words about the car... but wait until next steps are accomplished

This weekend is going to be about tires. I currently run the OEM Pirelli's and they are not in a very good shape. They have suffered from track events and do not have much thread left at several spots. This is no easily visible on this pic though:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/60293300@N06/7154557800/
I went to my favorite tire shop today (Butler's Tire) and discussed a few options. The short story is that I am getting new Michelin Pilot Super Sport installed tomorrow. I probably have a few thousand mile of regular road use left on the Pirelli's (so far I did 6,000 miles + 4 track days with them) and will have them transferred back to my OEM rims -so that I can put them on the car occasionally if I want to-.
OK, the Michelin PSS's are not porsche N-rated, but those exact same tires are mounted on Ferraris and BMW's and my shop guaranteed there is nothing to fear there. They never had issues with non N-rated tires on Porsches and would replace the tires if was not satisfied with them.
I personally had great experiences with Michelin PSS's: I had replaced the Pirelli's on my Audi S4 by PSS and the difference was night and day (more grip, less noise, better adherence on wet surfaces, better durability). Had the same experience on my GTI... can't wait to test them on the 991!

The cherry on the cake is that the Michelin PSS's are less expensive than the OEM Pirelli's

Will post impressions on Sunday.

PS: talking about tires... I Sonax'd my wheels after coming back from Barber and found this bunch of tire scraps stuck into each of the front wheels! Yikes!

Somebody's been exceeding the 55 MPH speed limit.

I am getting ready for my track day and had a question. What cold tire pressure do you recommend for the 20 inch wheels/P Zero's?

Wow! So the limit is 55 MPH?? They do not put units on road signs. Still under the impression that the 55 was in meters per second (~123 mph). Sorry, I come from the metric world and have a hard time adjusting to the imperial system

Not sure as I bleed the tires progressively as they warm up (they may not all heat up in a completely similar manner). If I remember well, they go back to ~34 front, ~39 rear when they cool down.

Michelin PSS on the car!!

Got the Michelin mounted this morning. As expected significant improvement over the Pirelli's. Better 'road feel', ride smooth like velvet, grip like velcro

Did you notice any difference in the interior noise level?
