Can anyone confirm that US buyers can't open and close the roof remotely with the key?
Great review but will be a bit bummed if this capability is left off for US buyers.

That's not an unusual thing to leave out for the US market. I'm pretty sure that US BMWs with this functionality for windows and sunroof may open from the key fob, but will not close that way. The same Euro models will close the windows and roof from the fob.
