The new 991 C4S!!

A lot of praises, link to history and one comment that stands out is about 4S steering better than other 991 variants...
what??? Wow!!
Order in, finally!!! C4S, Blk/Blk with deviated stitching on seats only. red seat-belts. Alcantara gear leaver and looking at trying to find an alcantara steering wheel. Leather interior was a bridge too far.
PSE, PASM, SC, Bose, 7MT, glass sunroof and sport seat plus with heating and ventilation.
Waiting on a build date.

Now the wait begins.... On the bright side, there shouldn't be deliberate delays that some of us experience due to launch date issues!! You'll have it in no time
I certainly will take some more shots, also from the interior... all when i'm back on the road again....

It looks like you put some real thought into the build, looks a like a nice balance of options.
Wasn't it you who had a thread on which 991 to with C2s or C4s... guess ya made up your mind hehehe.

What made you decide to go with the C4S?

How is the drive, any feedback?
Love the new feature all-drive indicator and the new glass sunroof which provides an excellent extraordinary feeling when carving through mountain roads

Engine sound has been significantly improved to my old 997 as well as the Bose system. The PSE just cracks my noodle! Further on amazing awareness of what’s going on beneath you – specifically the PTM, it’s just a little bit more happening to help you out… the four-wheel-drive version makes the car more of a practical, all-year everyday supercar, especially in a mountain country, dynamic excellent performance including super traction grip, sticks like glue to the road and driving as if on rails…
... It’s an adventure
..quick feedback... most distinct identifying feature is the wide rear section, it just looks exceptionally “outrageous” and the red light band perfectly stands out visually!

What a great description, reminds me what the long wait has been for!

BTW this shot is the perfect depiction of what you describe and one of my favorite shot of the C4S thus-far.

Guess we're in the right place.

Cheers!
That said, I really do believe this whole electric steering thing has been over blown... I never understood the need for this hyper sencitivity in the steering feedback with the 996 and 997.
It was very much like the harder suspension... too much, too often.
Anyone who gets in a 991 and can actually single out the electric steering has been trying really hard to find something (anything!) and has not put the car trough it's passes properly... the steering feel is just so natural and direct that there is noway it stands out over the animal that your trying to control when you hit that sport+ button.

No as far as I'm concerned it's just something that has been repeated over and over again by journo's who have never owned a 911 and it made them sound like they had some inside info... the whole thing was nonsense and falls under intellectual masturbation... but what the hell do I know hehehe
Yeah it makes sense with the extra weight in front.

Personally, I prefer the feedback/feeling of the hydraulic steering on the street and the precision/control of the electric on the track, but anyway I think the reason the journo's give so much grief to the electric is because they have to find something, anything wrong with the car so they seem objective and not just fanboys. Given the undisputably masterful engine, brakes and suspension (to say nothing of visibility, interior comforts and on and on) there isn't a lot left to pick on.

Whilst the steering system is a big contributor to the overall "feedback/feeling" as we know it is just one of the factors that affect it. As you and others have mentioned the 991 has superb chassis, brakes, engine and suspension dynamics which the journo's cannot find fault with. So what did they write about or be critical off?.... steering and pdcc. It is odd that their tone regarding both of those has changed whilst reviewing the C4/S. There may be some truth to their views but my suspicious mind thinks it more to do with them being respectful of buyer' ownership experiences and how successful Porsche have already been with the 991 (in any variant). They have to tow the line.
As with most systems, the steering and other controversial factors on the 991 will get even better over time. We are at the beginning of the current platform lifecycle and there will be oddities and goodies along the way. Of course the C4/S has to offer something different and it does. I'm glad of the choice.
Me, I'm waiting for the 991 GT3 which by all accounts will have the wide body, and oh dear.... PDK and optional 4 wheel steering! Shock horror what will the pundits have to say about that!
Those of us that can get any one of these 991 lovelies are lucky people indeed!
