991 Laps PBIR and 997 w/ Pro Race Driver
Here's a few laps behind the wheel of the 991 C2s with PDK, with pro race driver Shane Lewis at the helm. The Palm Beach International Raceway hooked us up with some private time before our club night to make some videos. Let me know of there is something specific you guys would like to see.
My 991 Carrera S PDK has, Sport Chrono which gets PASM but also when you order sport suspension for $890 you get different springs, Sport Exhaust, and I believe PDCC is standard with Chrono.
I have driven many laps already in the 991. As a member of PBIR we don't have set session times. I've run it for about 35-40 minutes straight. The car runs SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER then the 997.2. Oil temps stay consistent at about 220.

PDCC is not standard with the Sports Chrono...its a stand alone option available only on the "S".
This is even more impressive if your car did this w/o PDCC.
Thanks for clarifying, its hard to keep track off the options and whats standard. I actually took out the window sticker to try and figure it out. I do not have that option then. We've met at NJMP a few times!
I'm just checking out your webpage. (ready to order for kindle when available)
With/out PDCC!..That is an incredible run. It will convince allot of people it is not necessary.

I will be at NJMP for a bunch of member days, maybe some PCA stuff as long as its on thunderbolt. I will have my 997.2C2S in NJ for the summer.

Yeah...thunderbolt is my choice also.
yes...great drivers do great things with great cars....I've said that many times here.
really great video and driver.
really great video and driver.
But the reason for getting PDCC would be that it is the all new performance option in the all new 991. With that mindset it is indeed a must have. But will you miss not having it? Probably not.
The turbo is an overkill car by definition in my opinion and when ordering one, one should indeed order all the overkill options with it such as the PDCC which will be available on the 991 when it is out.

I told you so. But what am I, just an idiot who knows nothing about cars.

But you do know we are talking about a pro driver here and that people with some track skills can now see that the PDCC is not a must have.
But what would be the outcome of this video with a pro driver and PDCC...would it be even more impressive. What would be the time differential?
For someone without any track skills the PDCC is a still a great choice, it can make up for the lack of performance driving skills.
I never called you an idiot so I am not sure why you are directing this at me.

As far a lap time no doubt with pdcc it should indeed be improved by a bit, and pdcc does partly explain the nuremburg record time set of 7.40. But does that impact 99% of drivers out there? As flat as the 991 remains for most driving purposes, one should have extra money to throw around to justify the expense. Going for full leather b4 pdcc would make sense to me even though I am not a fan of non-performance options. If money is still left over, then get pdcc.
Well I didn't mean to suggest that you particularly called me an idiot.

My build was Carrera S
Agate grey
Bose (after hearing forum member's Momentum's Burmeister system I'm sorry I didn't get that!)
PASM Sport suspension
Sport Exhaust
PDK
Chrono
Sunroof
Sport Design Wheel (VERY IMPORTANT FOR PDK CARS)
Thats it. I track my GT3 and my 997.2 Carrera S. This car fits nicely between the two and its a lot of fun. It's an AMAZING street car too.
When you can order a car the way you want it, thats very special. I got what I wanted and I'm very happy. I feel fortunate to be able to enjoy these cars and the engineering that goes into them on a daily basis.
