991S Road trip

So I decided to take the 991 on a road trip to Houston, in the hopes of getting some break in miles. I must say I drove in regular mode and not aggressively as it was raining the entire way. The PDK coasting function worked very well and was actually fun to watch. The car constantly displays the speed limit as you are driving which was helpful as I was not very familiar with the roads and the various speed limit changes. Attached are the MPG stats for my trip. Overall I'm very impressed with the multiple personalities of this car. Very comfortable and docile when you want it to be, and the complete opposite when you don't.

Great mpg. Should do better after more miles.

As I have said earlier, I am not following text book break in procedures, driving hard at times but not abusively. Frankly the pdk has so much protection built in that it would be very hard to damage anything. Have put on almost 2000kms with DD, that's well over 1000 miles.

Agree about multiple personalities, sport+ turns it in to a devil (really should be for track only) but I let it go if I get an open non-radar patch, be it going 0-200km/hr from a stoplight or just 100-200km/hr on highway. But standard break in protocol would not allow sport+ at all as it immediately gets rpms in excess of 4200.

Mpg, I am not worrying about that yet, costing me about $30 to fill up a tank.

Aamersa. I'm not worried about MPG either. I was pleasantly suprised at how well the car did! Our Mini Cooper S with 169hp wouldn't have done as well!

Well at times it rained really hard. I felt stupid for taking the 991 but at that point it was too late. I did check the weather forecast before I left and there was no indication that it would rain as much or as hard as it did. No real damage thankfully.

Good!
Nothing worse than having your new ride getting side swiped by a flying cow

hahaha funny, takes "holding on to your hat" to a whole new level .... Although, that's not what I meant (didn't even realize you're a Texas man).
Whenever I hear of tornado's I think of that scene from Spielberg's "Twister" were the cow is flying by...
First time I saw that it was laughing, shocked and fascinated all at the same time.

No disrespect intended

Great report. Where do you get the speed limit to display like that--in NAV?

I agree on the road trip, bought mine in Dallas and drove back to Austin...amazing ride.
