visited the dealor today as i had to see the gaurds red in person, wanted to try the new sport seats & see what the throw on the nmaual was like.

Red - wow it is red - not sure else what to say. after seeing in person i am starting to chicken out. it will be hard to stay low key in that colour.

the manual tranny has nice throw. it is shorter than the stock 997 but still longer than the short shifter i put in the turbo. one writer suggested the throw was short enough that he doubted Porsche would do a short shifter: i can only suggest that writer had never used a 997 short shifter or was stupid. i think it would also be better if it was 1/2 inch shorter.

all in all though, the best stock Porsche shifter i have tried before:

Trust me, it is hard to fly under the radar in a 991! And radar is largely colorblind!

"all in all though, the best stock Porsche shifter i have tried before:" Great comment and very reassuring. My car is on the boat and I was starting to have second thoughts about the manual. Thanks for easing my concerns. Any other thoughts on it, the footwell space, and the feel of the clutch?

Footwell is not an isue and the clutch feel is great as is shifter etc. A step up on 997 IMHO. Manual is a wise choice.

Speed 21....great review and photos. That puts to rest the concerns about the manual.
Now, for the real question, does Birkenstock make a driving shoe? And, for what its worth, just watched Tanner Foust on the US version of Top Gear driving the Noble M 600 at 215 mph......barefoot! Must be the new thing. I think you have started a new trend.

Hehehe.. no man, cant say i'd ever attempt driving in those puppies....bare feet is ok for short distances tho...has great pedal feel...but it can leave you a bit tender underfoot if you do it often enough. Clutch pedal pressure can do funny things without a decent sole .

My favourite color. In fact it looks exactly like my car, just swap the MT with pdk. Yeah, nothing low key about it. It is hot looking and can turn mean at the touch of a button, sport+. Also, if you aren't satisfied enough with the attention the color gets, just turn on PSE and it will do the rest!

when they produce a short shifter, i would install it.

clutch - didn't notice anything about it so i guess that is good.

i would look into seeing how to cut 1/2 inch off the height.

ohhhh - last of all, the throw to 7th is a haul out there, but it is not hard & let us remember it is bl@@dy 7th gear. one will not need to either get to it or from it quickly if they pay any attention to their driving. i didn't find it springing from 7th as some writers have suggested.

spouse has always been good about this passion, but she is not keen on the red - too up front for her taste.

different note - i am going to see if i can swap into some Carrera Classic wheels from the stock S.
