Well, I have the power steering plus, and the only time I notice it is pulling into the garage. Amazing how easy it is to turn the steering wheel for the sharp corner. I haven't noticed anything weird at the track, and I did have the back end come out on me a little at the track on some really hard corners. So if there is any "auto correcting," it is matching me perfectly - but I doubt it exists.

Congrats on the new build. You will love it!!!!

What the "normal" power steering and the power steering plus does or does not do is the same, yes? The only difference is that the plus has less resistance at low speeds, that gradually fades out, and they are then identical, is my understanding.

I talked with my dealer today and my car has locked. Oddly, it's production completion date was pushed up from Sept. 13 to August 20, which is GREAT News. On the flipside, I can't make any changes (Pwr Steering) now since it is locked and assigned a production number.

I haven't really had a chance to look into it, but I think I am ok. Here is what the Porsche website states about Pwr Steering Plus: "Variable power steering support for low speeds, enables easier steering inputs in low-speed corners or when parking."

fbroen, I believe you are correct. All 991's have the new power steering. The Plus option just eases input and effort when parking.

Just got a call from my dealer. Once again, the production date moved forward. It completed production on July 30th. It is awaiting a ship to San Diego.

You must be excited! Mine got moved from September 20th to the 7th. Due to the August holidays I don't think it'll get built sooner than that.

Bon voyage to your car.

Haku, I am VERY Excited, as I am sure you are too. The wait has been hard. Does anyone know the exact dates of the August Holiday? Will my car still get put on a boat, or will it have to wait until the factory reopens?

Congrats on a great looking build! I also ate, drank, and slept Porsche waiting for my 991S to arrive last week. I ordered it late April but due to an error on Porsche's side, my '12 became a '13 and delayed delivery. I will say now after a week, it was well worth the wait. This is also my first Porsche, and I think I will never be without one now. I also got 7 sp MT, PDCC, sport chrono,

My dealer said customer order cars get higher priority and often get their production moved forward. Makes good business sense.

BrainDoc, CONGRATS!! You Have to be happy in the end getting a 2013. I made sure when I ordered in June that my car would be a '13. Not that the car is any different, but didn't want to take the resale hit buying a '12 at the very end of the model year run. Post some Pics when you get a chance. I'd love to see them. New Pics, Keep me sane during the wait. I consider them, and this forum, "Therapy."

Wondered if I'd be bummed as new options become available after my build locked. Happy to say, so far I am not. Power Kit is on the NA site today. Not worth the minimal gain, especially at $17,800.00. The only thing I may have added would have been Guards Red Guages. Would look sweet on GT Silver/Black. The standard will still be nice. No Regrets. I continue to wait. Supposedly, it is on a boat to San Diego. Dealer told me 30 days at sea. Is that about right for those that have ordered cars that were shipped to San Diego?

I looked at the power kit and the increase for me would be 13K as I would order the Sport Crono and PSE any way, however 13K for 30 HP is just too much.

In reply to your feedback:

I am considering some track training. Not sure if I will be able to do it before my car arrives. Has anyone done the Porsche Driving School in Alabama? I hear it is an incredible experience. I think there might be one in S. California too, but heard Alabama is the better option.

My dealer told me they would put the clear side markers on the car for me when I ordered. They weren't even aware they were available until I showed them pictures from Cars and Coffee in Irvine, CA

I originally did not opt for the Pwr Steering, but my dealer told me they wouldn't order a car without it. They said it only affects the car at low speeds (parking lot). Is this not true? I live in Boise, ID, so the dealer hasn't sold a lot of 991's. My order was the first local sale, which tells me they may not have the knowledge to give the best advice here.

Thanks again for the feedback. I feel like I'm making new friends here
I highly recommend the Porsche driving school in Leeds, Ala., I did it in June before I took delivery of my '13 991s and having the opportunity to drive their 991s on the track, skid pad, new booster s on the auto cross, was priceless. It really gives you an appreciation for what these cars can do.

Thanks for the advice. It's something I would really like to do. Don't think I will be able to before I take delivery, but will try to find the time. Is it year round?
