I know how that feels, it has happened to me.

I hope insurance covers all/most of the property. The crooks would actually come back the following night? That is so bold that it would appear that the Authorities have no authority, or just don't care.

What a shame. Sorry for your invasion.

Can you integrate a camera into your alarm system that will catch them next time?

Speechless. Hopefully some of your belongings will show up for sale and you'll be able to catch the crooks. Will the insurance company put things right?

Happened to me 5 years ago. I was traveling in the US and my wife was in our house in Europe. They emptied the house while I was flying and my wife was in the office. They of course took all the jewels, watches, electronics but even took my shoes, my suits, anything that had a fancy branding... and used our own suitcases to carry everything out of the house. Belgian police did not do sh*t. That's the government service you get when you pay 55% taxes This could still happen now that I am in the US, but at least I only paying 35% - and I am not saying this is low enough!

I hope they find your stuff back and that you did not lose too many things of 'sentimental value' that money can't buy.
If you want to look at any positive in this, you do not have your 991 yet and they had not opportunity to take it from you. Not being cynical, just trying to cheer you up a bit

Thanks, really appreciate the comments from you people. Does help to make it easier.
Spent the weekend fixing things and taking an inventory of items stolen. Police came to dust for fingerprints but none found. They had time enough to finish off two bottles of liquor and tossed the empty bottles. I was hopefull these would show some prints. No such luck - but they got inoxicated enough to leave their hoods behind (Puma - good stuff !) and we found the socks they where using for gloves.
Police is powerless - can't blame them though. They are simply completely overwhelmed. It's too much and there is no system in place to keep the crooks off the street - the prisons are so overfilled they don't even get put away anymore.
Unfortunately I did not have household contents insurance.

I have now at least got a decent alarm system in place that is linked to the neighbours. It's not going to prevent anything but at least give them less time. We are putting the property up for sale now. Time to cut the losses. Sad. I loved the place - we have buck walking in the garden and incredible bird life (the feathered variety). This was paradise. A place I could go and breath...
