Looks like I offended someone. I got some negative feedback (reputation). Didn't mean to come across disrespectful or take away from the topic. Please accept my apology.

tstires, I fully understand your predicament. It's unfortunate. If you can find the time, I'm sure Porsche NA would like to know of your experience. Congrats on the new Masarati!!

something definitely doesn't seem right here, i am a gm of a car dealership and we live off warranty work, when a recall happens it is great for business. So why would a dealership turn down a job that would pay in the thousands?? There has to be more to the story

tstires 08-23-2012 04:35 AM

msizzle66 --the dealer's explanation was that Porsche underestimates warranty repair times for reimbursement and with only one Porsche certified mechanic they couldn't afford to tie up their shop when they had paying customers. Their mechanic also told the service writer he felt uncomfortable performing the repair. My guess is they make more money doing $400 oil changes than extensive warranty recall procedures.

Poser?

Even if I bought a Lambo to park in front of my house or at my favorite restaurants, I don't think I'd admit it. Cheesy......................................

My dealer quoted me $225 for an oil change so if they are charging $400 and getting away with it, I can understand why they would only want their guy doing oil changes. Not a customer oriented business model.

I was looking for Porsche's assistance in intervening with another dealer about trasnportation as I am over 2 hours away from next dealer and also having the car evaluated after the overheat condition. Porsche customer care took messages but no further response ever received and regional rep refused to call me back. After spending the money I have over the years I would never invest another penny with a company that treats customers this way whether I like their products or not.

I can clearly see why you want to get rid of it. sorry to hear and hope you can enjoy your new Maserati

If you get the Maserati, I'd love to hear your review and comparison to the 991.

Was the $225 quote for the 991? My dealer told me the 991 is more difficult to do, and charged me around $300.... :(

$300 for an oil change??? Let my independent shop do it last week and was not even half of that. Had to drop by at the dealership to reset the 'change oil' service message though (for free).

Nothing to be surprised about. It's typical around Northeast and DC Metro at least.

Can't believe they are treating you like that. Any follow-ups or are you moving on without a fight? May not be worth your time if you are already sold on other vehicle (as it seems).

Had my oil changed at my Porsche dealership here in Cleveland. It was the 1st or 2nd 991 oil change they had done. Mine was $225

iambon 08-26-2012 12:24 AM

991 is very easy to change oil, same like any normal car on the road. The dealer who told that it is difficult is the one who never change oil in 991

I haven't had the 991's oil changed yet but I called them to ask what they were charging and they told me it didn't change from the 997. And when I took my car in for that cooling valve that let go, they took the fans and their housings off to see what was going on. These are the same items required to get to the oil filter. I watched them do it and it took less than 1 minute so I can't see any reason for charging more.
