Darren loved everything you did so far-not loving the rear lettering seems out of place. Font not keeping up with the new design. Love everything else!

Thanks Toporschefan. I have been vascilating between this and the new lettering. I like the Porsche portion of the new lettering and may revert to it but may just go for 911 S, with the S in red. Am trying to find the right combo.

I ended up with just PORSCHE on the back end. Seems clean...I agree way too much lettering with the stock set up.

Very cool interior. My fav part is the center console with the 7 speed manual.

Carbon bits installed

Got the rear lettering fixed. Am still torn between staying with this and reverting to factory original lettering with only PORSCHE and Carrera S. Thoughts?

Installed the final carbon dash strip from MA Carbon today. I like how the carbon parts add a bit more depth to the beige interior.

Great job with the car. Agree that factory lettering is way too busy. I think just the factory "PORSCHE" looks best although its been just a long time since any 911 used those words back there....everyone who sees them knows it's a frickin Porsche!

BTW is all the carbon fiber factory or combination of factory and aftermarket? How much less is the aftermarket vs factory price and can you tell the difference?

The only factory CF is on the centre console. Price wise, no difference between factory and MA Carbon. Very close match in terms of weave and size of weave between MA and factory.

The carbon looks beautiful as does the car!

If you don't mind me stating.... I'm not too keen on the aesthetics of the lettering and think reverting back would be the way to go. Either just Porsche or with Carrera 911S. Maybe even consider just 911S or nothing... minimal and clean!

Overall as mentioned, the car is glorious. Are you enjoying the driving?

Darren, it truly looks beautiful! How about having the lettering wrapped in CF? It would be a perfect match to the interior and stand out a little bit less with the dark color....

Picking it up on Saturday morning and counting the hours....

I hear you on the current lettering...it just doesn't seem to sit well with the new rear end. I have decided to revert to the factory lettering, likely with 911S.

In terms of driving, the car has been just superb in its handling. Having just come from a nicely modified 993, I can say that the 991 has not lost any of the quintessential 911 feel. Sure, it has lost a certain degree of its rawness but that I see as evolution, rather than selling out. Instead of climbing into what can only be described as an oversized go kart in the older 911s, one now drops into a very modern, cocooned sports car ****pit.

It is a lot more evolved and refined from the older 911 and now would appeal to a far wider driver demographic than before but the car should also appeal to an old school 911 porschephile. I have yet to get it past 4k rpm but can already feel that this 991 is going to be a beast of a car when unleashed.

My neighbors are already sick of hearing me roar up, blipping the throttle while I downshift and turn into our driveway. With PSE on (the default position should be ON), the car just makes such a glorious noise. It took a bit of work to get my 993 exhaust sounding this good and this car came like this from the factory!!!!

With PDCC, the cornering has been composed and "rail" like.

In terms of pet peeves, the Hold function is taking a bit of getting used to. I have stalled it a number of times now, which is annoying given that I never stalled a normal manual on a hill before.

While the Bose system is ok, it does need a bunch of fiddling around to get the sound much improved. The bass setting I find a little too much and only after going into each menu and setting it a few notches lower that I find it acceptable. If i could have a do over, I would definitely have gone for the Burmester.

The amount of electronic gadgetry in the car is mind boggling. I think I am going to need to order the factory charger just to keep the battery from draining just sitting in the garage.

The navi system is very good. XM radio...jury still out. Bluetooth connectivity for iPhone is great.

Other than the above bits, I am still getting to know the car and its capabilities.

ale70,
You are giving me a taste of my own medicine! Thanks for the CF suggestion which I would have gone for if I had a lighter colored car...you should know by now that I am all about the contrast . Have just placed my order with bumperplugs.com and reverting to factory lettering but doing 911S, with the S in red. Can't help it. Our landscaper, who overheard my wife and I discussing the lettering, came up and told us we had "rich people problems". That put everything in perspective...

I can empathize with you...the next couple of days are going to be a killer for you. The car is an amazing bit of machinery.

I hope to see you at one of the future cars and coffee things soon.

Yes, I thought about the 'lack of contrast' issue as well, but also that if you use the factory lettering, that can make up for the issue.

And yes, Saturday seems so far away....many calories away at least.....and the night between Friday and Saturday (MOST LIKELY SPENT HERE!) will never end.
