MT - clutch throw

Test drove a manual today. Amazing car, but I found that the clutch throw seemed a bit long before it engaged. It had a great feel, just felt longer than the one in my BMW. The bimmer also seems to engage relatively quickly, whereas this had a significant amount of travel to get it to the clutch point?

Has anyone shortened the throw of the clutch? Is it in any way adjustable?

In my opinion, there is no need for adjustment. You get used to a different clutch throw very quickly. The one in my 991 is different than the one in my previous 997 and 996. It took me a bit to get used to the "hill-assist" in the 991, but one gets used to that too.

I don't think the clutch was adjustable in my 997 either. When it wasn't right any more, they replaced the clutch and the throwout bearing.

+1...i've "mostly" gotten used to it( stalled it yesterday when 'hill hold' engaged!) and i've only had it 4 months! It is longer than other MTs i've driven but this being my first Porsche, i thought that was their MO

I've owned almost 30 different manual transmission cars in my life and driven many more. There is nothing "wrong" with the 991's action, like any other clutch YOU need to adapt to it.
