Launching PDK without Launch Control?

Is it possible to launch a PDK car without the launch control?

In a MT - 1st gear, rev, drop clutch and you're off.

In a PDK - 1st gear... and we're rolling...

I wouldn't advise doing it as it will probably overheat the PDK. Just do an automatic burnout with the traction control on.

I have also wondered this. I have SC, but for example at an auto-x, it seems a bit over the top use launch control every time off the line. Flooring it from idle is no slouch in Sport Plus, but there is that (ever so slight) delay between when engine revs up and you get rolling in earnest.

Why would anyone need or use launch control. My 12' TTS is plenty fast and I couldn't imagine a situation where I would want to purposely abuse my car.

Just put your left foot on the brake and release as you put your right foot down before you hit the rev limiter.
Even if the launch control light comes on... just don't wait until hitting the rev limiter to release the break.

There's a pretty wide range of rpm's you can utilize with this "technique".
Personally I like doing multiple throttle bleeps instead of a smooth input and release (brake release can also be done fast, slow or "slipping") but try it out and see what works for you.

Cheers!
