This may not help those experiencing specific isses but i thought it may be helpful for initial setup to list the instructions from Porsche iManual for setting up the PCM for SMS:

Settings for messages and data (PCM telephone)

Changing the number of the SMS service center

Press the button.
Press the button or touch the tab of the same name in the header.
Select "SET PHONE"
> "Messages/data"
> "SMS settings"
> "SMS service center".
The input menu for telephone numbers is opened. The current number is entered in the input field.
Enter the desired telephone number and confirm your entry by pressing "OK".
Switching the SMS signal tone on and off

You can switch the signal tone that sounds when a text message comes in on or off.

Press the button.
Press the button or touch the tab of the same name in the header.
Select "SET PHONE"
> "Messages/data"
> "SMS settings".
Select "SMS signal tone" to activate ( ) or deactivate ( ) the function.
Phonebook settings

Setting the memory for the phonebook

You can set whether the phonebook entries on the SIM card, the phonebook entries in the telephone memory, and/or the vCards stored in the PCM should be used for the display in the phonebook.
This allows you to adapt the phonebook list of the PCM to your list in the cell phone.

Press the button.
Press the button or touch the tab of the same name in the header.
Select "SET PHONE"
> "Messages/data"
> "Phonebook settings"
> "Phonebook memory".
Make the desired setting by selecting it.
If the transfer of the phonebook data from your cell phone to the PCM fails, it may be because your cell phone is working with security mechanisms that affect transfer using the "Phone Book Access Profile" (PBAP).
These security mechanisms require the PCM to be authorized on your cell phone. As part of this, the telephone requests a "user ID" and a "password" from the PCM. In order for the PCM to gain access to the phonebook, it must "log into" the telephone.
Since the PCM uses the fixed parameters "UserID: PCM3" and "Pass: 0000" for this login, these parameters must be preset as permissible on your cell phone.
Please refer to the operating instructions for your cell phone to find out whether these settings are required on your cell phone and how to make them.

My PCM does not give me these options despite my owners manual stating the above options. My car is one of the first 2012 cars. I wonder if PCM software can be upgraded.

WFBlue is infamous around these parts
might be a little lost here in 991 world - I have a 2012 Cayenne S with voice activation (I think this is what the option is called). I recently changed phones to verizon windows 8 (HTC 8X). When a text comes in the PCM makes a notification sound and then a voice asks if I want the text read. Then I can respond by voice and it sends the text. It is very handy and quite accurate. A nice surprise.

phone is great. perfect integration with Microsoft products for obvious reasons, which is important to me in my business operations. WP8 does not have the billions of apps compared to apple and android worlds yet, but does have everything most people need on their smartphone. How many fart apps to you need after all. I have had iphones and droids and much prefer my current phone.
