Can Electronic Steering be modded?

Porsche's website on the electromechanical steering of the 991:

"it features a variable steering ratio and responds sensitively and directly at the same time as providing customary agility, a high level of comfort and precisely selected feedback from the road."

The three operative words are: precisely selected feedback

Porsche tuned out what has been called "road noise" from the steering. I presume much of that noise is what caused the trademark jiggle of the wheel in your hands on pre 991 911s.

I miss that jiggle (as does basically everyone). Its become more obvious recently while driving the 991 in the snow.

I'm going to guess that the GT3 and other GT variants (probably not the turbo) will get electromechanical steering with more road noise allowed by the OEM software. If so, Boo Hoo for us non GT drivers... My 2009 3.6 had steering every bit as juicy as my friend's 997.1 GT3. But I think Porsche may have figured a way to differentiate GT and standard cars more (lets be honest, in my opinion the gap in feeling from the Carrera S to a GT3 from behind the wheel - brakes, shifting even accelerating with very similar peak torque - etc...was a smaller gap than the aggressive looks of the GT3 suggest .) Now with the more tame feel of the 991 chassis and the electronic steering, I think Porsche can increase the "seat of the pants" gap between the standard cars and GT cars.

But..... If Porsche can change the electro steering, can't an aftermarket tuner do it as well.....??
