I Had To Come Back Into The Fold
I Had To Come Back Into The Fold
A couple of years ago, I lost my job, and decided to sell my beautiful ’10 C2S Cabriolet back to the dealer. Although I loved having a Porsche (prior, I had a 08’ C2S Coupe), I had a multitude of reasons why I should sell it. Shortly afterwards, and it may be hard to believe, but I began to feel as though a part of me was missing. After being unemployed for two years, I decided to “retire,” and collect my Social Security. So, as I began to feel better about my financial security, I decided that I wanted (needed?) my Porsche back, and be “whole” again. But I also believed that at this stage of my life (age 66, and retired), I shouldn’t spend as much as I did before ($125K “S”), and that I should save money for other things in life.
So I figured that a happy medium would be “just” the Carrera Coupe, with only a few options. So I spec’d out a Carrera Coupe for about $100K, and went to the dealer for information about ordering one. As it turned out, they had just gotten in a “previously-enjoyed” 2012 Carrera (991). Anthracite Brown Metallic /Luxor Beige, PDK, Bose, 20” wheels, sunroof, and a few other options. It listed in May, 2012, for about $99,500.
The used car Manager (whom I had dealt with before), offered me the 2012 Carrera for $80,000, including CPO, and a 2-year extended warranty (5 years, 2 mos). I believed it was a fair deal, and brought it home.
All told, I have a “new” 2012 Carrera, and didn’t spend an additional $20,000 -- $40,000. Now I’m beginning to feel “whole” again, and happy to be back in the Fold.

Life is the very curves these beautiful cars enjoy being ridden on....you just crossed the hairpin before she did...now she's made it to the other side with you
This is something I've said time and time again on this forum...the cars are the keys to our soul. As much as we love the brand, the engine roar, and the look and feel, most of us have oil running through our veins
Welcome back brother!!
Big fan of A.Brown!!

Sorry about the loss of job, car, and unemployment for 2 years.
The universe has a bunch of twists and turns in store for us and I guess we've just got to ride the wave. I'm wishing for you a good one.
Congratulations on your retirement and the new car!

Good decision and very nice car! Congrats!
I was at the dealership the other day and was surprised by number of CPO'd 991 that are already available. Certainly a few good deals to make!
