sports vs standard wheel

For the ones who have experienced both:

which one do you guys like most?
The sports one is a beauty but I am kind of missing the old feeling
of the standard one where you could put the inners of your palms
on top of the specially 'carved' areas...

Interesting...I just swapped out the standard Tiptro wheel (not multifunction though) for the Sports Design wheel as I wanted the paddles. Drove with the standard wheel for about a year and always felt I was missing the sportier and more visceral experience to be had with the paddles as the Tiptro buttons were just plain boring. More importantly, at a DE event last year I inadvertently changed a gear leaning onto the Tiptro button which was a distraction every future lap I took as I had to pay attention not to repeat this!!!
I've had the Sports Design wheel for a few weeks now and find myself using it very often...shifting with the paddles is just fun and you look for occasions to do it vs. the Tiptro buttons that I hardly used.
To your point, I don't miss the shape of the standard wheel at all. In fact I like the Sports Design wheel look better, plus it's actually thicker, esp. at the 10 - 2 grip locations.
From your pic I am not sure if you have PDK or not so all of the above except the last point might not apply, but thought I would share only since I have lived with both...

Maybe I'm the only one but I ordered the standard wheel with the switches for PDK and I like it. I think the look is cleaner and I got used to the switches on my 997.2.

I like the PDK switches too. Allow me to up/down shift from either side.

If the car comes with a multifunction wheel, can you still change to the paddle wheel? ON the MF wheel the fourth stalk is missing to control the info window, can this be added later on? Thanks.

I have...as they say on Top Gear, "the flappy paddle shifters" on mine and I love it. Having one side to shift up and one to shift down really feels like you are driving a race car. Just my thoughts.

You can get the paddle shift kit from TechArt so you can have both the multifunction wheel and the paddle shifters. I think it's about $1500, but don't quote me.

I thought about it as I like the buttons but sorta wanted the paddle shifters. I've since gotten use to the PDK buttons and saved money
