Tata turbo coupe takes on 911 ;-)
No hate about what could be a great car, but one of my gripes, except for the lack of imagination of comparing itself to a 911, is the fact that, when you look at the car, you do not recognize it is a Jaguar anymore. It is a good looking car, but it might as well be the new Miata. That's why I called it the "Tata turbo cab'" (coupe was a typo
). Except for the badge itself, it fails to leverage Jaguar's heritage and typical lines.
On top of it, they belittle themselves by comparing the F-type to Porsche rather than reminding of Jaguar's race history and showing a nice Race Green car. I have the impression that the new owners are trying to build a japanese looking car that looses its identity instead of positioning themselves as a sport/classy package.
Maybe I am too old fashioned...

I dunno guys,
you see - by refering to the 911 they have just reinforced the fact that the 911 was - and is - the benchmark. You can be faster, prettier, louder, more expensive - none of that matters, all you can do is compare with the benchmark.
They just gave Porsche a free ad. I like it...

So, which one is a modern and inspired interpretation of a legend?

Rumors are also that the engine would be made of plastic...

No bashing, just disappointment. Jaguar said they did not want to create a 'historical pastiche'

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I'm not exactly sure where this strange "comparison" rates.
However, I wouldn't joke about "Tata" too much.
My wife's Supercharged "Tata" Range Rover is built like a brick house, and the build quality and finish far exceeds my rattling "bench mark" Porsche.
Details do matter and while a 50 year reputation is laudable, it cannot be relied upon indefinitely. I'm sure we can all recall MB's Flagship being on life support a few years ago, in spite of their history and "reputation".
This is an utterly misguided approach to marketing...

It's too bad, because they used to have very unreliable but good looking cars, now they are just uninteresting to my eye.
