Poll: What Color Is Your 991?
I don't go that far but I do have watches that complement my car's interiors and I do choose colors to wear that also go well with my cars' color schemes.

I was always told that only women are vain. But now I know that men pay attention to those kind of details too! Great to hear!
Thumbsup!

With more silver than white 991s on record so far, you'd think there'd be a competing "Do you Have a 991 in Silver? Post your Pics Here!" post.
I realize that a car is a driving instrument but when I see a thread specifically discussing the color I feel we are now talking about the aspect of it being a fashion accessory . Otherwise why even care about the color ? With the exception of silver blending into a misty climate posing a higher collision incidence i generally view a car's color as aesthetics.
"Form follows function" is a phrase more applicable to the 911 than to any other car in history. The aesthetics of the car's design aren't changed much unless there is a purpose, not just to make it prettier. For example, the supermodel-beautiful 458 has a coefficient of drag of .33 despite its low-slung body and swoopy lines; as a result, in order to dissipate as much of that air they had to make all sorts of scoops to channel the airflow. On the other hand there is the 911 with a coefficient of drag of only .29.
Color doesn't make a car faster, safer, better, or anything but appealing. Based on the poll results so far, the typical owner of the 911 prefers non-colors such as white, black, silver and gray because over 50% have chosen those non-colors. Color is an emotional thing for some people and it is often the single biggest determining factor in their choice of car. I bought a 2006 Corvette once because I'd fallen in love with Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic (DSOM).
The only reason for this poll was to see what the most popular colors are. I searched and couldn't find any statistics from Porsche as to sales by color. I've seen so many silver Porsches in my life I just assumed that it would be the dominant color but hadn't anticipated how many whites there are, enough apparently to warrant their very own Post Pics of Your White 991 thread.
As for cars being fashion accessories, it's just the oposite: some of us accessorize our clothes, watches, hats, etc. to complement the car. But I guess if you're that d-bag Justin Bieber, you can design your car's color scheme to match your house or your favorite outfit or the color of your eyes. His 458 has blue calipers. Why?

Interesting: In another 991 forum the same color poll I started there has 118 responses, not quite as many as responses in this forum. The leading colors over there are white & gray, comprising 38% for the two, followed by black (16%), silver (12%), blue (12%), red (10%), and single digits for yellow, brown & other. Two-thirds are non-colors (black, white, silver & gray).
In this forum, Silver reigns supreme followed closely by white (so far). The non-colors of white, black, silver & gray in this forum also represent two-thirds of the total, though in different ratios.
I just think there are a lot of forum members who haven't responded to this poll yet as it has been buried by pages and pages of new posts. I hope this will revive it and generate some more data.
