Lightbulb apply setting/activation of seat memory with 1 press of the button ?

It's clear to me how I must program the buttons, that's not the issue.

But how do I apply/activate them with one press of the button?

Up until now I just pressed the appropriate one of 3 buttons and hold it until the settings were applied. But it's a bit annoying to stand there with my finger holding the button down as I have one setting full foward to load in my golfgear and than I have a long wait again to reach my driving position.

The manual says you can also do it with a short press of the button, but that doesn't work in my car.

Can anyone shed some light on this ?

I believe that is how it works. You have to hold the button until it reaches your setting. I suppose what you could do is set one of your key setting for full forward and another key setting for your driving position, but then you would have to carry the two keys around - not the best solution.

I believe that's a safety function so you don't accidentally crush anyone sitting behind you...

Then why did Porsche put that possibility in the manual ? Makes no sense. Very annoying. Hope they can fix it for me.

Question

My problem remains unsolved by the dealer (says it's error in user manual), and claims PAG doesn't get back to them. So I'll give it a second try here.

It's clear to me how I must program the buttons, that's not the issue.

But how do I apply/activate them with one press of the button (which can be done according to the user manual)?

Up until now I just pressed the appropriate one of 3 buttons and hold it until the settings were applied. But it's a bit annoying to stand there with my finger holding the button down as I have one setting full foward to load in my golfgear and than I have a long wait again to reach my driving position.

The manual says you can also do it with a short press of the button, but that doesn't work in my car.

-1- Anyone here where it does work as advertised in the user manual ?
-2- Do the US / other countries manuals have the same info regarding the one press operation of the memory seats ?

I have to hold the button as well. Haven't checked the manual to see what it says.

What also annoys me is that every time I start the car I have to turn off the AC and turn on the Sport button. Strange because the PASM button will default to your last selection and the AC/Sport button won't...

Have you tried pressing the button before getting into the car?

Yes, both with and without the key in the ignition.

I'm thinking it's either a piwis setting or a functionality in combo with keyless access or something along that line, but up until now nobody was able to help me.

The seat retrieval system works correctly for me. I have entry and drive and followed the instructions as stated below. To test it I moved the seat in a variety of ways, several times and then briefly pushed the button. In all cases the car performed as it should.

"Retrieval by pressing key-button (key/3)
  • With the driver's door open and the ignition switched off, briefly press key-button (key/3).
The settings are automatically retrieved or press and hold key-button (key/3) until all settings are retrieved."

Great, so now I have 1 confirmed case were is DOES work. Now I can rule out the "user manual is wrong answer" ! Looks like there maybe is a correlation with the keyless entry & drive. So I'm still guessing/hoping that it is a simple software/piwis fix.

With the door OPEN and no key in ignition - Seat moves with one touch button.
With the door CLOSED and no key in ignition - Seat with NOT move with one touch.
With the key in the ignition (or if the ignition is on) - all one touch functionality is disabled.

This is a safety future that prevents you from accidentally hitting the button while driving and being crushed or moved unwittingly.

So if you walk up to your car, unlock it and press any of your memory buttons once with the door open, it does not adjust all the way?

Just confirmed what Dux stated, door open, car not on - one touch moves seat. I have keyless entry. Thanks Dux.

No it does not. I want that to be fixed but was told it was an error in user manual. Which it clearly isn't because now I have multiple confirmations of people/cars were it does work. Thx a million for the feedback guys.
I'll have to get back to the dealer with this info ! I hope it will get fixed because its soo annoying not to have this working.

billco is infamous around these parts
One more for the record. Keyless Entry & Go here.
With key in pocket and door open, one touch moves the seat from memory position to memory position. Doesn't matter whether the ignition is turned on or turned off (works both ways). With door closed however, button must me held down. Again ignition position has no affect in my car. Only "door open" or "door closed".
