Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Does the TPMS work well?

Are the readings accurate?

I have not found a device that I can attach to the tire stem that doesn't leak air when applied and therefore give a suspect reading.

I think so. I have never had an issue with the readings.

The sender is inside of the tire mounted on the wheel. The leak would have to originate with the valve and that is unlikely.

I had to do some checking on a low tire warning yesterday. My tire guage and the TPMS gave exact same readings.

I am not sure exactly what the TPMS and computer are doing, but they seem to monitor tire pressure and match the reading against temperature (boyle's law?) such that when the tire is heated and the pressure is up the car reports that the pressure is correct.

The TPMS readouts as to correctness depend on what setting the person has set into the car's system depending on type of use (comfort, full or part load, high speed etc etc).
