That dang Porsche configurator

Porsche made a hugely brilliant move by developing that configurator. It isn't even that I waste so much time configuring and reconfiguring cars, I think it feeds the pleasure centers of my brain and drives me to trade cars in more frequently. Kind of like a not-so-subliminal, subliminal message. I find a delicious joy in configuring, reconfiguring, changing my mind and reconfiguring the reconfiguration and finally the whole ordering and waiting process. I'm an addict. Anyone else?

Feel free to sell me your old, dilapidated 991 while you build a new one. :-)

You sounded perfectly normal to me until you said you liked the waiting part. That tells me you've gone over the edge.

Me, too. I found myself on Saturday configuring a Panamera 4S. The first time I can see wanting a Panamera is in four years when my kids may well be in three different states and the mother hen will want to go check on them. I'd say that may signal addiction.

BTW, Carbon grey over black/carrera red with full cf bits looks stunning to me. I think I'd opt for black floor mats....

It's an addiction. The 3D mode is particularly brilliant. It's amazing how close my actual car was compared to the 3D configurator and especially given there weren't any 4Ss around that that time, it was particularly useful.

I'm about to place an order for a GT3 and have only looked at black, red and white configurations about 50 times before settling in on...? Also have been particularly sweet to my wife for the past week since she is in agreement that we keep the R8 spyder.

For years I was addicted to the Bentley configurator and yet every time I bought a new one it'd be off the floor and not a bespoke car. But their configurator pales in comparison to Porsche's which is the best I've ever seen. I'll be staying off configurators for a couple of years, I think.

LOL
I too, have configurator-addiction..... Porsche will probably soon need to update their server storage space because of all the configs I saved over the past months I think I have had all cars and models now... Can start over again, right from the beginning with a base boxster too bad there isn't a configurator for the 918...

The bad thing is, I noticed, every time that I visit a Porsche website, I find myself immediately clicking on "build your Porsche" and forget why I was visiting the website in the first place.

I wonder if Porsche has noticed that each build by a customer gets more and more expensive. ;-)

I've had my 991 for three weeks now and I've already started playing with the configurator again...

It's a great marketing tool they have developed!!!

Agreed, just wish they had a more accurate color rendition.

You know the only reason I even wanted to order was to get a base 911 that was lightly optioned so I could stay in the $95K USD range.. And as I've fiddled with it gradually worked my way to adding options.. going to an "S".. and now I'm at about $120..

So yeah, it's cost me about $25K, lol...
