Wind buffeting with standard mirrors at speed,,,?

What speed does the buffeting start? In street driving, I never keep my windows down because 1-it's too damn hot and muggy in fla, 2. it is annoying at high speed. I have had my car up to 150mph without any buffeting but the windows were closed. I know on he track you need to have the windows down but otherwise it's a non issue IMHO.
So if you are tracking, consider the sport design mirrors ($600) otherwise forget it and keep the windows up when you are at high speed (unless the buffeting starts at 60-80mph).

I have a Cab and with the windows down the buffeting is ridiculous at highway speed (with the top up). I'm trying to figure out how to put the back windows down to see if that helps...

There is a little button next to the window buttons. Push that in and then the window buttons operate the small back windows.

With a coupe the buffeting starts around 65 mph or so with the windows down. There is none with the windows up. No buffeting if the sunroof is open with the windows down.

Up here there are plenty of nice days, long tunnels, and wide underpasses to keep windows open for full enjoyment of PSE.

Agreed. Sunroof open fixes the buffeting. Most track days will not allow it to be open. So I put some tape between the mirror and the window. This disrupts the wind coming into the car. Looks like crap but works.

some tracks allow you to pop the sunroof open from the back

Hmmm my kid is a wiz with his 3D printer. How about a pic and I will see if I can get his attention and design a decent looking removable plastic insert.

Question try, try again...lol

Was anyone able to confirm any reduction in buffeting when the sports design side mirrors were installed?

with the pedigree of Porsche, the least they could do is to design side mirrors without the buffeting issue. For God's sake, my Merc GL with elephant like huge side view mirrors has ZERO buffeting issues at all speeds

The GL is so non aerodynamic that probably no air flow reaches the mirrors!

There must be someone with a 50th anniversary that can comment on whether the buffeting is present with the sport design mirrors.

Cab with top and windows down........only noise is the PSE screaming "more, more

Cab with top down and windows up......no mirror buffeting, but a little upward turbulence around footwells due to partially enclosed cabin. Simple solution is put wind screen up, unless you have female passenger with short skirt

Cab with top up and windows open.............some buffeting noise that reduces PSE sound level. You can put a large suitcase, golf clubs, wife, girlfriend or whatever in the pseudo back seat to dampen it pretty good....but why would you drive with the top up and the windows open

but not at triple digit speeds.

my corvette or GTR do not make these sounds, so Porsche is doing something wrong.....
