So true - and not just in cars - Wall Street, DC, London (the Whale).

Mine was a cash sale, but they still asked for credit check. Told them makes no sense and would give them my SSN. Deal went through fine. I suspect them want the check check for data on the buyers, including FICO scores, or some liability that may be in mouse print, somewhere.

I agree. I yelled at one who wanted to upsell me on undercoating. Almost killed the deal with his arrogance.

They are still running the undercoating scam??? good grief that was old 30 years ago!

Here's how it will go down with me- certified check or amex for deposit, wire transfer for my full payment of the balance in cash. NO FINANCING. If they mention a credit check (and I'm in the bay area) I will ask them if they'd like to pick another Porsche dealer for me to buy from or should I choose one (That I have in mind) on my own... it's their loss. Not mine.

MikeDi is infamous around these parts
Mine was an all cash sale and they still wanted me to fill out a credit report. I told them no and went to another dealer. I did the whole deal on the phone and sent them a deposit. They ordered the car with no problems. No credit check and no other hassles.
