Convertible Top Wear Marks

I have a 2013 Cab which is blue on blue. The top shows some marks on the sides just about center over the front windows. I searched the forumns and did not see a lot of comments about this. I went to the dealer and they recommended treating it with Ragg top fabric protectant which I did - twice. Still after a few days the marks still seem to be there. I was wondering if any other Cab owners have noticed this? I might try and post a couple of pictures.

I never leave the top down when the car is parked for more than a few minutes although I used to leave my 997 top down overnight even. It bothers me that this has surfaced on a car with 2,500 miles and only 6 months old.

Same thing here, FWIW. 2013 cab built in Feb, purchased in June, with ~2K miles. I see it but it doesn't really bother me (yet).

My 2013 cab gets the same marks. I used to leave the roof down all the time but now put it up when I park it. My marks seem to go away after a few days, I went out of town for 7 days and when I can back my marks disappeared. Putting my roof down and back up later created the same marks in the same place again.

welcome to soft top convertibles. i have and had the same issue. Treatment helps slightly but it is what it is.

I've also heard detailers using steam to mitigate some of the crease marks.

Thanks for the responses. I am going to try and post some pictures, later. I got some marks on my 997 but these seem different - especially in the right light.

Recent Pictures...

I have uploaded a few pictures to try and see if anyone else is having this severe of an issue. I tried using a Ragg Top on it which was recommended by the dealer. This is on a cloudy day after a recent cleaning and application of the conditioner - it is worse on a sunny day. I never leave the top down when the car is parked which I did all the time with my 997.

Does anyone else have this issue? If so, what have you done to try and make it less noticeable?

Any help is appreciated.

Everyone with a convertible has this issue. It shows up more on some cars then others and it bothers some people more then others. I used the ragtop and I did not see any difference with the marks. I have seen a few posts about this and have yet to here of a good solution because I don't think there is one.

same marks here. I'd take a photo for comparison but my engine is at the dealership. A whole other story. All in all, they don't bother me unless I look directly at them. Maybe try not to look at them.

Thanks for the feedback. Not sure I can (or should) just live with in on a car with a $141K sticker. I debated black vs. blue top and could have been happy either way. These marks have been here since day one and I just don't feel that it is right. I owned my 997 for four+ years (black top) and it never had any marks like this even though I would leave the car parked with the top down for days at a time.

I either don't have these marks or haven't noticed them.

Agreed, these are normal for our roofs. I spoke to my dealer about it (the service department), they basically said it's a fact of life. I put my top down a lot here in the bay area, so there's ample opportunity for these markings to form. Attached are some photos I took. It would be nice if this didn't happen, but for now I accept it as the price of a soft-top convertible.

Then you should count yourself fortunate. On my 997 black top (and others that I have seen) there were wide white marks that mirrored the folds of the canvas. There was no real way to get them out and keep them from coming back. I "chalked" it up to having a rag top as did the dealer.

My Black top shows marks as well, but not nearly as bad as my old 997. I put the top up even when it's parked in my garage. With the old 997 I would leave it down all the time. I had hoped porsche would have figured out a fix for this with the 991. I think moisture plays a role in this so I never drop the top after I wash the car or it just rained.
