Entry and Drive...
Entry and Drive...
Getting ready to lock my build and doing some last minute thinking about options maybe I might want...
But I'm wondering if there are any additional features of Entry and Drive other than the obvious basic function of being able to keep the key in your pocket..?
Yep I get the unlocking the door and the turning the fake key.. Not all that useful to me.. I have that in another car and well, it's novel at first but kind of annoying. On Toyota's you touch the handle to lock or unlock the door and it creates a kind of creates an irritating pause every time I walk up to the car. In general I just hit the unlock button on the key to avoid the shudder step hesitation so I can just jump in the car.. Or the touch twice to open the passenger door. Just find the whole think kinda awkward for everyday use..
And then there is the valet issue or when the person with the key gets out of the car.... Yeah the car keeps running when the key leaves, but it leads to "interesting" logistics at times I've found.
So a far as I can tell the only potential benefit is the key in pocket / Purse which as I mentioned for me, just creates confusion. I think if somehow there was a way to eliminating the need for a key entirely it might be cooler.. say in addition to the key have a hidden keypad somewhere that you could get at that would allow entry and starting the car as well..
But the point of my question is just are there any additional integration features entry and drive gets you (other than it's bundled with the light design package)? Memory oriented functions etc? Trying to figure out a reason to want it...

Think of the Entry Drive as just one more convenience. Not having a key saves on scratches, and is nice just to ket in and turn the Plastic Key and off you go. Also, when leaving, it is nice to just press the button on the door to lock the car. I also like opening the Frunk with a swipe of the bumper.
The light design package is a nice subtle option. It is nice getting out of the car at night, and having the illumination around the car. Also at night in the cabin, there is a subtle light which you can adjust, and provides just the right amount of light without having to use the map lights.
My opinion, it might not improve performance, but the value exceeds the cost.

I get the novelty aspect of it.. but I guess I'm still trying to rationalize why it is more convenient. Just seems different not any better.. They are all keyless entry.. The difference is if you push a button on the key or a button on the door... or turn a plastic key to start or use your own key..
I get the frunk thing, although it's still kind of the same issue.. Button on key vs touching something on the car..
My understanding is that you can remove the plastic key and use your own key (as the dummy). I suspect if that is possible I'd probably do that just to keep track of where the key is..
I do get the light design package (actually I wanted to get it without Entry and drive, but you can't now as it has been removed as a stand alone option)....

There is no button to push on the door to unlock, you simply grab the handle (or just get your hand near the handle) and it unlocks.
That is much more convenient than finding a key in your pocket and pushing the correct button on it.
The button on the door is to lock the door, also more convenient.

I guess... subjective as to what is convenient to the individual.. I never carry my keys in my pocket anyway.
Actually though I guess I got offtrack.. I understand the basic concept as I have it on other cars an it is definitely a "meh" to me...
I suppose I was looking to understand if there were additional integration features (as part of entry and drive not the bundled features, seat vent and light package).. And for the most part it doesn't seem to have any over normal key button functions..

If they would have had a button instead of a fake key I might have ordered Entry and Drive. I kept imagining some thug eyeing a "key" in the ignition and thinking its a quick steal.
In the end I decided against it. No regrets.

Funny you said that, I witnessed a thug take my fake key, leave my property in the hopes of returning to take the car later. I would pay money to see the look on his face when he realized it was plastic. In fact, he returned to my home later, broke into my wife's car and returned the fake key. I actually bagged it and gave it to the police for finger print evidence. I never got it back. If anything, it is one way a Porsche owner can stick it to the thieves.
