My 991 Story - 1 +1 <> 2

Well,

I remember going to the Geneva Auto show in '06 and seeing the debut of the 07 911 TT - got to say instant lust. I ordered my Slate TT that year and had it for 2 years then moved to downtown beantown. No need for that when I'm walking to work and paying $500/mo for a parking space. Traded it in and my '06 A4 Avant for a CTTS .. lol it was awesome. Fast forward to '11 moved to the burbs and dumped the CTTS and got a '12 Cayman S Black Edition S 6mt with PSE/PCCB and a '12 Audi S4 Prestige 6mt. Now, this is where I say - I drive about 7k/yr and 1/2 the time into beantown - and some of you know - the MA Pike .. not moving fast. I found the S4 boring, chipped it - but was really uncomfortable - sold it earlier this year. I really love the Cayman, but never realized until it became my DD how low to the ground and tiring the 6 speed is in traffic (usual commute home is 20 miles and takes well over an hour). Anyway - made my mind up to replace the S4 with a Cayenne Diesel. I have always been a 6mt person, although I did have a M3 with DSG and hated it .. saw the dealer had a C4S with PDK .. they said I could test drive it for the day!

Well - as soon as I got in - I started remembering what my '07 TT was like .. no this is NOT the same, but darn nice. The burble from the C4S PSE is very nice, SPORT mode kewl, SPORT+ whoa nelly .. I also like how I can turn off all that junk and almost relax in traffic. What surprises me most - I'm getting way better gas mileage than my Cayman of S4.

I also must say - I like the 14 way vent/heated seats .. I had Sports in the Cayman and could never get it 100% right.

Anyway .. I just turned a month of ownership and as luck would have it .. got in and the mileage was 991!

I will post some more pics tomorrow - mods to date - hardware V1 with Blendmount, clear markers, clear tail lights

Congrats, please do post more pics. I live outside of bean town too, I go in a couple of times per week. I also have a c4s with MT. It is an amazing car isn't it? Who did your radar install? Are you happy with the results? I'm looking for someone to do an install on mine.

Ohh .. I switched teams on my C4S .. this one is PDK .. I must say 99% of the time, I love it. As for the radar install - I did it myself - drop me a PM .. happy to help you do yours. I've been installing them for years - I got it down perfectly on the 991 - meaning - no cutting of anything factory, all wires are concealed and fused.

Could you elaborate on your install, I would also like a clean install of my V1.

I have a V1 mounted on the windshield just right and above the rear view mirror( same location I've had the V1 on my last three Porsches). It is hard wired. Took about 20 mins and cost about $50 to have my guy do it. Simple, easy, effective and inexpensive. I did not like the idea of having anything cut out.

Thanks I appreciate the offer. I bough a bell stir plus with z4 shifters so the install will be a bit involved. I'm not qualified to do it that's for sure.

Congrats! As a past beantown guy myself (now way out in the country ) I know what you mean. My car is coming in a month or so, I can't wait--hopefully we can setup some MA meet and greets sometime! Which dealer did you go through, you can PM if you prefer. I've dealt with the two big names and so far, both dealerships have been great to work with--seems like the Porsche dealers are more chill than the MB and BMW crowd.

Anyway, can't wait to see more pics, congrats!
